i think i have a breast infection

i woke up with terrible pain in just my right breast and i can't lift my arm up. now i have the chills and my whole body aches. i have a call into my dr but they don't open till 9. has anyone ever experienced this? i pumped for 35 mins after waking up and that didn't help the pain.

Call your OB ASAP- you probably have masitis and will need antibiotics.

To help with the engorgement and clear the plugged duct, lay your baby down and lean over her to nurse. Or lean all the way forward while nursing. The force of gravity will clear the duct.

This is the ONLY thing that ever cleared plugged ducts for me.

Also- take some Motrin. It's an anti-inflammatory and will help with the pain.

Sounds like a clogged duct. DO you feel a really hard area that hurts when you touch it? If so you need to get the clog out, or it can lead to mastitis.
Nurse very often, massage the area in a warm shower.

hi ladies thanks for the advice! i went to my dr that morning and it was mastits. i've been on an antibiotic for the past 2 days and the fever, aches and chills have subsided but i'm in still in pain. hopefully by the weekend that will pain will go away. thanks again!!
