Which zoo is better for a 1 year old ?

Bronx Zoo


I'm planning on taking Julia to the zoo on her 1st birthday.


I've been to the bronx zoo but never to the central park zoo.


suggestions ?

I have 2 friends that took their 1yr olds to the Central park zoo and they loved it

I'm waiting for an answer too though, I'm wondering which would be better to take my 13 month old too

The Bronx Zoo is so big it may be too much for a 1 yr old.

So I think at that age The Central Park Zoo would be plenty.

Central Park or Queens Zoo...Bronx Zoo is nice for the adults to walk around and get fresh air

Bronx Zoo is a better zoo overall, but there is more to do in the CP Zoo area. So, you can stroll the park, playground, go to a nice lunch in the area, FAO Schwartz, etc. Bronx Zoo is good when they can run around a bit. They can run around the children's zoo, run through the exhibits. I think CP Zoo and related activities in the area would be a great 1st birthday experience

Central Park zoo is better only because it is smaller and the animals are closer & easier to see.

Bronx Zoo is pretty... and the gorilla habitat will have animals that are "close"... but when we took our nephew at the age of 1 yr , it was hard for him to get very excited because the animals were pretty far away.

Aquariums are a good idea too. Our niece was 8 months old when we took her & she went CRAZY over it. Kids can touch the glass and see the fish swimming close to them.
