Am I crazy for bringing my very active 10 month to the beach?

We go for walks on the boardwalk all the time and we've let him touch the sand, but the summer is just about over and we have not had a "beach day" yet and we really want to this weekend. So for btdt moms with very active babies.....what do we need to bring and do to not make this a total disaster?

No. It'll be fun. Bring a blanket, umbrella, chair for your self and some little beach toys for him. I have a tent thing for Liam and he loves to sit in his tent and play with all his toys.

Not crazy at all! We brought DD to the beach for the first time earlier this summer at 9 months. She is VERY active- doesn't sit for more than a minute. It was actually great! I think she was entertained by everything and actually relaxed on the blanket, at a snack for maybe 15 mins- it was awesome. Then I was brave and took her to the beach again at 10 months by myself (without DH) in cape cod. That wasn't so relaxing- but we just walked up and down the sand by the water, played on the blanket, she had a blast!! You'll have a great time and make sure to take pics!!

I wouldn't bring a PNP.. you would have to lug that down the sand. And honestly, she'll be fine on the sand.

I don't know if you know the powder trick but, bring some powder. When you are ready to leave put some in your palm and wipe DC down the sand will just fall off.

Have fun.

It didn't work for me w/ DS when I went at 10 months. He kept running around trying to eat the sand and rocks and wouldn't sit still on a blanket for a minute.

yeah DH said that he doesn't want to lug the pnp all the way down there (i guess i don't blame him!)

yes baby powder...thank you for the reminder. I remember as a kid, my mom would always powder us down in the parking lot before leaving.

not crazy at all - but don't plan on sitting down !! - And expect that he's going to get sandy and gross - and he might eat the sand ........

I've been taking Sean all summer - he's running around like a madman and has NO fear of the ocean - SOOOOOOO it's not at all relaxing - but he LOVES it !

My DS just turned 1 and we brought him to the beach recently (see pic to the left!) He loved the sand but was throwing it everywhere, in his hair etc and then putting his hands in his mouth. He is very active so for us it was funny but a p.i.t.a Chat Icon
