skinny jeans for not so skinny...
i am 5'3" 145lbs and have 2 children under 2. i carry all my weight in my stomach so i'm looking for a pair of skinny jeans that are not low rise and will flatter my body type.

eta: do you have any recommendations that are stylish and not mommyish

I think NY&CO has a stretchy pair almost like leggings but in a jean material.
It's called a Jegging

i do like ny&co but i'm worried that they won't hide my tummy issue. they all say low rise and i really need something to cover my love handles.

I'll be honest...take it or leave it. 
I am 5'6" and 130 lbs and I don't love the way skinny jeans look on me. I think 90% of the people wearing them shouldn't be. It's a trend that I just don't think is very flattering.
Like I said, don't take my advice...just offering my opinion

You might be better off with a straight leg jean. Skinny or tapered leg jeans are almost always low waisted.
They also draw attention to you hips, so the are better for people who are straigherer & want to look curvier. It's more about shape, than size.
Something like this might work for you:Lee jeans
Also Lee has a fit finder that is helpful on their site. They have Lee at Kohls, Sears, & JC Penney.

I agree.
I am 5 8 and around 130 or so but I find that my thighs are just disproportionately larger than the rest of me , and to me, skinny jeans just don't work on me.
I feel like you need skinny thighs to wear skinny jeans and I just don't have 'em!
I feel like I look way out of proportion in them..so I leave them to the super models!

Completely agree. I'm 5'5" and a size 6, but I carry my extra weight in my stomach and thighs, so skinny jeans just don't work for me, and I'm okay with that

I used a coupon there! I got 5 pairs of dress pants for $5.99 each, and I had my AAA card for an additional 15% off. I had lots of luck.

I am 5ft and very curvy. Flatter stomach but Boobs, But and thighs and based on the compliments its a non issue for the opposite sex. I seem to be the one having the occasional issue.

Last year I picked up 2 pair at H&M. They are not low rise.
I'm over 5'8 about 150#. Not the skinnest, not the thickest. I like the way they look on me.
Try some on. Never know, YOU may like them.

Im 5'4 and about 115-120 when (not preggo) and will wear skinny jeans as long as they are not like tights. I will also only wear them with high boots. I have hips and thighs so the boots balance me out.

I do agree that skinny jeans are NOT for everyone...and I'm sure I fit into the category.
Then here's my issue...what kind of pants do you wear with Hunter & Ugg Boots that will not bunch at the top?
That's REALLY my dilema.

I swore I would never wear skinny jeans because my figure wasn't meant for them, but I gave in and tried a pair (mainly because I needed jeans that were able to fit into my over-the-knee boots.) My DH loved them on me! And I actually felt good in them...good enough that I intend to buy more pairs of that cut. I should add that I just had my 3rd DC 8 weeks ago, so my body is not exactly in the shape that I'd like it to be.  (My 3 are 4 and under.)
I don't know how much you're looking to spend, but I bought the Joe's Jeans Chelsea fit. They might be worth checking out (Zappos has them, so you can get free shipping/returns.) The only problem you may run into is the inseam. I'm 6'1" and they fit me perfectly length wise.

Ita!! I am NOT thin by any means. I feel strongly about the following and just because they make something in a plus size doesn' t mean we have to wear it.
I see way to many ladies trying to look a certain way and it is just not a good look for the body type they have. JMHO and directed at you.

Oh I am not saying there is anything wrong with thick thighs...I just dont' like how they look on ME. We are always harder on ourselves and our own bodies than others are on us!
So when it comes to anything that is tight around my hips and thighs I avoid it because I am self conscious.
