It's so funny to me that older people seem to be obsessed with babies wearing socks. A couple of months ago we did have socks on DS and we were at our civic association and some older lady was commemting on him and she said something about how great it was he had socks on and how she doesn't like to see babies out without them. I don't get it.
We have not had socks on DS since late spring. It's too hot plus he takes them off all the time anyway.

DS didn't even wear socks when he was 6 months old and Christmas Eve! He just was not a sock wearing baby. He'd rip them off instantly so most days I just didn't bother.
Now he is 2. And although it is so hot out there are some days where he will ask for socks to be put on him, so I do. Other than that he lives in sandals and flip flops so I leave him sockless.

Michael hasnt worn socks all summer and when i would send him in them to daycare he would come home without them and somewhere in his bag, i keep a pair in his diaper bag and daycare bag but i have not put them on yet!!

No socks or shoes for my DS either. He stopped wearing socks around May when the weather got warm. He's 11 mos old now and not walking yet, so no need for shoes.
Either I don't go out much, or I'm highly unapproachable because no one has said anything to me when I'm out.
(Is it wrong that I'm secretly hoping I look "unapproachable" just to avoid annoying comments like these??)

i dont put ian in socks (in the summer), but i carry a pair with me in case we go to a cold restaurant. his feet get cold easily.

I don't put socks on Tommy, he wears Pediped sandals to daycare and when we are out and about, otherwise he's barefoot. I do put socks on him though, at night in the AC.

It must be a generational thing! My mother says the same thing all the time....it really made me wonder if I was guilty of some baby fashion faux pas? Then I realized I didn't care! As long as DS wasn't cold, I would not cover up his adorable little baby feet!

Def a generational thing.. they always have me questioning myself if I am presenting myself as tacky or trashy.

No socks here for any of us! The only time I will put socks on my LO is when the A/C gets too cold...other than that...NO SOCKS!

DS has worn socks twice in his life (he's only a month old). The only two days it's been below 90 degrees..
I keep waiting for an old lady to comment but it hasn't happened yet.

My DD is still a newborn but she rarely wears socks.
She has a ton of cute ones that she got as gifts but in the summer it's just too hot.
Plus as a newborn she is swaddled a lot because it's the only thing that keeps her calm it seems.
But to answer your question- No way- it's not tacky at all for a baby to be barefoot in the summer!

Both of my DDs never wore socks all summer long as an infant or a toddler. It's nothing at all for my little one, and sandals or bare feet for my toddler.
