The kookookanuku (sp?)...its a bus that takes you to the lighthouse, dinner then several bars..it was sooo much fun!
La petite cafe was a nice restaurant where you cook your steak on rocks!

Re: Can't wait! Just booked ARUBA for Oct! What's something that we have to do/see there & cannot miss?
thanks, Kookookanku looks like FUN!
I made a list of a few restaurants we'd like to try. For Dinner : Le Petite Cafe Flying Fishbone OR Old Man & the Sea (do any of you recommend one over the other? I read the ambience was the same)
El Gaucho - (read that the food was the best in Aruba)
Texas De Brazil
Matthew's Beachside Restuarant
For Brunch/Lunch:
Matthew's Beachside Restuarant
Iguana Joe's OR Smokey Joe's (menu's seem similar to me - do any of you recommend one over the other?)
Dutch Pancake House
Linda's Pancakes & Pizza
During the days. I fugure we'd lounge by the pool. Maybe Shop? Is the shopping far?
Did anyone do any fun day excusrsions that weren't $$$?
For those that have stayed at the RADISSON, did they offer free kyak, canoe rentals?

El Gaucho was amazing! Make sure you go to the bar across the street too
We had a lot of fun at Carlos and Charlie's at night for drinks and dancing.
We also rented ATVs and drove around the island, that was cool. As far as I know it wasn't too much, if it's just you and DH you might want to just rent one and sit on it together.

Shopping is very close. Raddison is beautiful!!
Go to Sunset Grille for dinner! El Gaucho is so good Bargain shop for jewlery. You can talk em down
Most things are in walking distance and if not a quick taxi ride I walked the beach a lot they also have guys on the beach come up to you and if you want to snorkel or do other swim activities you can sign up with them
Have fun! We have a timeshare at the Mairrott and go every year

LOVE aruba! Such a nice island and the locals are soo nice!
KooKookanuku is awesome! Tattoo - like a booze cruise (dinner included) and they have a rope swing and slide from the boat right into the ocean, Dj on board, lots of fun.
We went to Flying Fishbone and it was really good. Mussels appetizer are amazing!
We did the De Palm full day jeep tour. It was a lot of fun and you really get to see the whole island.
Also, rented jet skis- which was really fun.

Flying Fishbone & Texas De Brazil were great! We went to both this past June for our honeymoon. We also went to Casa Tua . They had a great deal for Pallea for 2. We went to the one near all the shopping not the one ourside the high rise hotels. The one outside the high rises didn't have the Pallea.

Agreed! We LOVED El Gaucho's DH still talks about it. The cigar/piano bar was cool too, and the "beepers" for El Gauchos work in there!
Enjoyed the ATV Tour but get 2 ATVs much more comfy that way! And do the tour they take you to some cool places

I LOVED the Mi Dushi boat. It's a sail boat that looks like something out of Captain Ron, and it sails you to different spots to snorkel.
They serve you lunch and drinks, and there's a rope swing off the side of the boat which was sooo fun.

Re: Can't wait! Just booked ARUBA for Oct! What's something that we have to do/see there & cannot miss?
Restaurants we loved:
Madame Janette's Papiamento Japengo (sushi/japanese at the hyatt)
Heard great things about sunset grill at the radisson and flying fishbone
For lunch - Salt and Pepper across the street is really good.
Snacks -- There is also a dunkin donuts and baskin robbins across the street too
There are some fun activities the hotel can hook you up with -- jet skiing, glass bottom boats, etc.
Aruba is awesome!! You are going to have a great time!!

the bus is fun! I liked it...dinner wasn't fabulous, but it was raucous.
Flying Fishbone was amazing. We had so much fun. And the food was delicious.

Re: Can't wait! Just booked ARUBA for Oct! What's something that we have to do/see there & cannot miss?
thanks everyone!
We aren;t going to rent a car. We'll just cab it for dinners & maybe take buses for day exploring. Are the buses annoying to take?
ALso, when you went shopping, did you haggle (sp?) for everything or just jewelry?

I second the Flying Fishbone....we went on our honeymoon. It was so romantic and the food was delish! El Gaucho's is also great.
We also did a catamaran sunset cruise which was fun and we rented a car and drove all around the island. The ostrich farm was really cool until an ostrich attacked me Don't bother with the butterfly farm...total waste of money!! We also went to the lighthouse. Have fun!

Flying Fishbone....call and request a table by the water and make the reservation for sunset...it was the most romantic dinner I have ever had.
El Gaucho's was good too.
We did the Kukukonoku (sp?) bus too...it was a lot of fun and they pick you up and drop you off at the hotel.

Re: Can't wait! Just booked ARUBA for Oct! What's something that we have to do/see there & cannot miss?
We just stayed at the Radisson. Lovely hotel! Wonderful beach and water, and loved the pool!
Some notes about the hotel:
We arrived at 1:00 and were told we had to wait 3 hours until our rooms were ready, though. That was a pain! It ended up being much quicker, but not w/o some nagging on our part.
Once you get there, be sure to reserve a hut at around 3:30 each day for the next day. The beach was never that crowded (which was awesome!), but I would hate to not have a hut there.
As for Radisson restaurants, Gilligan's was great for lunch and casual night time dining. I heard Laguna wasn't so hot. Sunset Grille is very nice. Mira Solo was awesome for some yummy cocktails.
Off the Radisson, Texas de Brasil was great, even found a 10% off coupon in the newspaper from the hotel.
Salt and Pepper was good, so was Gianni's and Le Petit Cafe.
I would skip Madame Janette. I didn't think the quality of the food was worth the price or the location. My BIL and SIL swear by that place, though!
Have fun planning your trip! I wish I was back there!

Hut is no cost! The sun is super strong, however we went in the summer. The temperature was very comfortable when under the hut, though.
