Preschooler acting like a baby???

Does anyone else's child do this? My almost 4 year old reverts to acting like a baby at times and it's driving me crazy!!!!! It's like nails on a chalk board. Any ideas on how to curtail it? It seems to happen in social settings where there are younger children involved.

Re: Preschooler acting like a baby???

OMG my 4 year old is doing the exact same thing - even yesterday she wanted to sit in her brothers high chair and use his sippy cup!!! I think its because she is very aware of things now and maybe realises that her brother is getting a lot of attention at the moment as he started walking, clapping hands etc etc and maybe she needs more attention. We were around a lot of babies on vacation recently and maybe that triggered it as she saw how much attention they were getting.

Another theory is maybe because she is SO aware of herself now and is maybe getting self conscious and being babyish is her safety zone and her way of feeling comfortable

All of the above are my theories only and could be a total load of hog wash.Chat Icon

My niece did that for a while, same age...lasted a few months, then was back to normal.

I hope so...it's driving me up a wall! Not so much the baby talk because I can ignore that but acting like she can't do things like put on her shoes. Chat Icon

My almost 3 yr old does this sometimes lately. Whenever he is upset or cranky he immitates his baby sister - her cries and her screeches - it drives me NUTS! One screeching baby is enough!!!
