Ppl that know merrick
South of merrick road there are a ton of "spanish style" colonials, I think they call them the gables...now is this a section of south merrick or just a style of home that you find in south merrick...whats up with them??? Any and all info on south merrick would be appreciated!!!

but is it considered south merrick...I don't get it..I see houses listed on MLS as south merrick and then section Gables..so it's a section of south merrick? How is that section....

I grew up in Merrick, south of southern state and north of sunrise hwy. I honestly think you can't go wrong with any area/section in Merrick. It's a great town!

I grew up in Merrick and I would not consider that South Merrick. To me, anything South of Merrick Rd. is So. Merrick BUT those homes are gorgeous. Some of the ones on Wynsum are also beautiful.
There is no "better" Peninsula both have lots of stop signs!

those houses are also south of merrick road, that's why I was asking...we're looking at strictly south of merrick road but saw a colonial listed next to a house we saw (south of merrick road) listed as a gables colonial so it confused me...

Yes Ok I thought you were talking mainly about the ones between Merrick & Sunrise Hway behind the stores on Merrick Rd. by La Piazza. That I wouldn't know...I had a few frinds who were living in the Gables Houses South of Merrick Rd. I can't help you there.
Did you search online?
I did find an association of Gables owners...perhaps you can email them and ask.

We saw a house on Lincoln we like and a couple on Wynsum all south of Merrick road...but not those style houses, I was just curious to know more about them..they just seem so random in the middle of splanches and high ranches

Taking a Tour Through Merrick's Unique Neighborhoods
Apparently that neighborhood was meant to mimic a "mini-hollywood" and named after Clark Gable

About a month ago Kate Winslet was in the Gables filimg a new movie, its a remake of Mildred Pierce and Merrick was the best authentic looking Great Depression arae for houses!

I lived in Merrick from when I was 14 to right after i graduated college-- I thought that area was in b/t Merrick Rd and Sunrise?? I definitely went to a kep party or two over there, but i didn't have any firends that lived in those houses. That's not considered South Merrick though, it's Central.
Reading that article was interesting-- the homes along Lindenmere are really pretty, with beautiful tree lined streets-- again, central Merrick.
There is such an eclectic mix of houses in the town- never really thought about that before!

I looked at a house in the gables. needed alot of work, a lot! very cute inside, but all original and not really what we needed. 2 bedroom, 1 bath, weird backyard size and access. nice area though, we just got more for our money elsewhere.
