bad day today

I have been on follistim for like 6 days and I was really hoping that at my appt today the RE would tell me that we have a bunch of folllies but theres only 2 on each side. Little ones. Hes concerned that since I am young I should be responding to the meds better. I feel like a failure, like my body is just not cooperating. He asked me if I was dispensing the meds right? I felt like I was letting him down and myself by not looking better. Then it hit me, What if this is it? This is all I get? my #'s are low and my chances slimmer?. Meds are going to run out soon and I am almost at my ins limit without even doing anything but injections? I found out that I shelled out money for more meds and that I should have been covered under my insurance and I have to try to get that $$ credited. I wanted to cry on the phone with the Pharmacist who told me I paid $150 over what I should have for less medication.
I thought that I was going through this pretty well until today. Chat Icon
DH tells me we will do what we have to not to worry but I cant help but feel like a failure. Thanks for letting me vent

What dosage are you on? I did 150 every other night for 4 days for 2 cycles. The first cycle I created one follie, the other FOUR. Its really a crap shoot with these meds, you can have two cycles, two exact protocols and respond TOTALLY differently. How is all your bw and all your numbers? Is this your first cycle, how did you respond to previous cycles? Has your RE performed any amh ..ovarian reserve testing?

There are many variables to this, and unless there are other underlining issues i would not be concerned with only making 2 follies.

4 follies is fine as long as one or two mature.

like the PP said, every cycle is different and you shouldnt get so discouraged based only on this cycle. Chat Icon Chat Icon

my first cycle on injectables i hyperstimmed. the second cycle it took 21 days and repeating the same protocol twice in one cycle before i produced 2 follies. i rarely produce more than 2 and this cycle i only produced 1 mature one, and the RE was thrilled. he said it was the perfect response.

hang in there!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I was on 300iu for the first 2 days with lupron in the am, They kept the lupron and upped it to 600ml and I have been doing that for 4 days(2 w/ lupron and 2 without). so I am hoping things get better. I know you make total sense with saying it only takes one. Thats the hope I am keeping. I have never gotten any #s from my bw and I wouldnt know what I was looking at either. What should I be asking? I have an appt on Sat so maybe I will start asking more questions I just dont know what to ask.

When they say things like "something is not right, you should have responded better" try to think of my GYN who ranted when I told him that this same thing got said to me. He said:

"RE's think that there is a cookbook and if a woman body doesn't follow the recipe she is not going to get pregnant." He went on to say how many woman come in pregnant who were told they weren't going to get preggo. I too was told bad news after one cycle.... and then the RE took it back after more tests. Oy!

My GYN gave me back my sense of self, hope and perspective. REs know a lot, but the human body does not follow any recipe for getting preggo. I have realized something important while I have been on my break from IF treatments: Nurture the hope you carry in your heart and protect it well. It is yours to have and yours to give away. I am not giving my hope away to any doctor anymore.

Re: bad day today

Most REs follow set protocols. Some don't. Every body is different and it takes some time to find out the right mix.

I've had my protocol changed a bunch. Now with a different RE would will try anything.

Every body is different. Don't take what he said as gospel. It's just not.

Deep breath..this is a marathon, not a sprint.
