Brody peed in the potty for the first time and I missed it!!!

Brody peed in the potty for the first time and I missed it!!!
He is just 22 months and he always want to go "potty" with us = follow us into the bathroom and turn on the water/turn off light/un roll toilet paper.
I was in Babie-R-Us yesterday and bought him a potty. I didn't even attempt to train DD till she was three, and then she did it in 2 days. I planned the same for him. But, I when I saw the potties yesterday, I decided to pick one up with no plan.
I took it out of the bag when we got home and left it in the hallway to answer the phone.
I came back 2 minutes later and he was completely naked, sitting on the potty and he had peed in it!!!!
I missed it!!! What do I do now?? Do I have to keep up with it??? (lazy me)
