BF and visitors at the hospital
I plan on BF but not sure how it works with visitors, I am delivering at Stony Brook. Do they avoid feedings during visiting hours? i think SB has long visiting hours so i dont want people to come in while I am feeding them...

i had ds at winthrop, and if feedings corresponded with visiting hours, the nurses would come in and ask everyone to leave. i'm sure stony brook has similar policies.

Visiting hours are 2-8... really long! I had a family member stand outside and keep people out of my room or put a sign on my door while I was feeding Landon. The nurses did not stop anyone from coming in.

When i had DD I would feed her when I needed, people who were uncomortable would turn away or leave the room until I was done.

yea i knew they were long didnt realize they were that long. geez, you dont get a break. so basically my fear may happen still. guess i'll have to let people know to tell me before they plan on coming.

it was the same with me and my DD, I fed her when I wanted to. I understand certain people may be uncomfortable with BFing so I made sure to let them know that I was going to be feeding her and then placed a burp cloth over her and went on talking to my visitors.

haha you lose all care in the world of what people see after you give birth. I just fed whenever she needed it and if people were uncomfy they would wait outside.

I had a private room at Winthrop. Winthrop puts a sign on the door to knock mom is breastfeeding. Maybe make your own sign.
