So I did ferber two nights in a row now (2 questions)
omg, it is heartbreaking but Joey doesn't really want to be rocked anymore, he would squirm and squirm trying to get comfy in my arms (especially since all he wants to do it lay on his tummy now). It makes me sad, he doesn't want to be rocked anymore b/c *I* enjoyed our time together at night and I was ok with forming the habit haha
Tuesday an hour and a half (I did cave and rocked at the end, I couldn't help it) I did 5 minutes, 5 minutes, 10, 10,etc. . Last night- 45 minutes 10, 15,10, 10 didn't pick him up just patted and said "mommy's here" (which is when I bursted into tears)
I'm not cut out for this but since he is not enjoying being rocked anymore, I didn't have much of a choice. Tonight my family is coming over. . .do I still continue it? if I skip tonight, it's like I have to start all over, right?
Doing this at night, will it help napping to? I don't really rock him to sleep at naps but I would sit for maybe 5/10 minutes and he'd go out. Will I be able to put him down for naps awake now or do I have to do ferber for naps too?

try modified ferber and use the pick up put down method that I did. Its far less heartbreaking.

well, the patting on the back is working, so I don't want to switch it. Especially since all he wants to do is be faced down cuddled up in himself. but do I do it tonight with you guys over the house? Eeek!

I would do it. Your family might help to distract you and make it a bit easier. Plus, technically it should be shorter.
And yeah.. I had to do naps at the same time too. But, it really went prety fast. He should be sleeping with mininal crying by the end of the weekend. It only takes Liam about 4-5 minutes of crying to go down for anything now.. and that's on a bad night.
