I caved and let my 3 month old watch TV today...

I was so against letting him watch any TV but both his daily naps were interrupted Chat Icon Chat Icon by the phone ringing. I had to eat because I was STARVING so I put him in his bouncer in and put on Yo Gabba Gabba while I made a sandwich. He is sitting there cooing and laughing at the TV. It's so cute, I almost feel guilty shutting it off!

Don't feel guilty at all. DS has been trying to watch TV since he was born Chat Icon

When I was on maternity I just kept the TV on and DS would try his hardest to watch it so I just shut it off. That doesn't last long. He's been into Yo Gabba Gabba since 7 - 8 mons. Now, at a year we've learned to love other Nick Jr shows.

Even put it on this morning so I could get my hair done. He literally only watches it for a few mins then plays. Once in a while looks up.

I always keep the TV on, I have always done that, I hate being in a house with no sound..my DS has "watched" TV since he was like 2 or 3 months old...esp if I had to run to the bathroom and he was in the bouncer or something. It's no big deal to me.

Same here.

Now though, as he's getting older, I put on shows to distract him when he's mega crabby.

at 2 months ds cooed at the tv, now he stares at it like a zombie... freaked me out a bit, so now I keep it off

I put it on for things we can watch together like baby can read and baby signing time.

If I need him quiet for a few, I'll confess I'll use the TV, like when I need to put him in the car seat....

But I hate that I NEED it, and that there is no other way to keep him amused for a few minutes ... by himself Chat Icon

Don't feel bad. You are allowed 5 minutes to eat. My DS loves to watch excercise workouts on TV. Guess he already likes the ladies.

Re: I caved and let my 3 month old watch TV today...

At about 8 weeks or so, DD was obviously getting bored in her bouncy seat, so one day i turned it around to face the tv..she loves it. I don't feel guilty at all. I always was allowed to watch tv (monitored) and it didn't ruin me! I still loved to read and do other tthings. I honestly feel like it's better than having her stare into space at nothing, it engages her!
