what are the chances of getting listeria??
I had no idea i couldn't eat lox. I just had it two days in a row on bagel.
Tell me I will be fine!

I eat cold cuts all the time. As long as its from a reputable place and its not sitting out for a long time I am sure its fine

What are the risks of a pregnant woman getting listeriosis?
According to the Center of Disease Control (CDC), an estimated 2,500 persons become seriously ill each year in the United States and among these, 500 will die. According to research, pregnant women account for 27% of these cases. CDC claims that pregnant women are 20 times more likely to become infected than non-pregnant healthy adults.
2,500 people in the US is nothing. So i would say the chances are very very very small

I think you'll be fine. And I believe it comes on very quick, so you probably would've been sick by now.
My MIL and mother had never heard of listeria and not being able to eat cold cuts when they were pregnant...I'm sure the same goes for lox!

it all boils down to how comfortable you are taking the risk.
personally, i haven't wanted to risk it, so no lox, sushi, deli meat or deli cheeses since my bfp. as much as i am dying for a real sandwich, i did not want to take the risk.

My dr said listeria is VERY rare. They only advise not to eat cold cuts b/c "why take the chance" but the odds are REALLY slim.
Why cant we have lox anyway?? I thought fish was OK once a week?

Thanks, Hopefully Lucky is ok! I thought fish was ok too, but i just read on LIfamilies since it's smoked fish it's not fully cooked and can carry listeria.
 I can't keep up with the NO EAT LIST!
