If you bought a house with an extra bedroom...
what did you make it into?
We are not having another little one for awhile I believe, and not sure if we even will.
While the obvious answer is to make it a guest bedroom, I fear this will be an open-invite for my Smother-In-Law to come stay over (she lives in Queens, and us in Suffolk)
I'm not evil, I swear..
Any ideas?
I was thinking a media room/office...but I'm kinda quirky & weird  , and maybe a meditation/relaxation room?
Any other ideas?

We have a 3 bedroom house and so far no kids, so one is a guest bedroom and the other is an office/den with the computer, a couch and a bunch of my husband's sports memorabilia.
Our house is furnished with all hand-me-down stuff for now though. Eventually if we have a baby the guest room would become a nursery and then the office would have to double as a guest room.

We have our master b/r, and the two DC each have their own. We also have a library, a toy/play room, and an office.

We have 3 extra - one is an office, one is a guest bedroom, the other is a "workout" room - TV, treadmill, free weights.

I'm building custom bookcases floor-to-ceiling, and under the window. The under the window one is heavy-duty, so it's also a seat.
No electronic devices allowed in that room (I *may* allow calculators for DC to do homework..  ) It's a quiet, non-electronic room.

We have a 4 bedroom. Before the kids it was an office/library. Now it's a playroom because we don't have a basement and needed to put the toys somewhere. We will turn it back into a office/library when the kids are older..

Thats what I want to do with my attic. Make it a reading, music relaxation room. No tv allowed.

we bought a 4 bedromm house and we have a formal living room, family room and sunroom so none of the bedrooms need to be a "den" type room. right now one bedroom is an office, the other is a guest bedroom, and the extra one is our  dumping grounds right now for all the boxes and things that need to be put away still (moved in 2 months ago). it will eventually be a nursey.
we feel like we have so much space and nothing to put in any of it 
And every closet in each bedroom is a huge walkin so the few excess things we have are put away.
I'm sure a year or 2 from now we won't have this problem

Ideas:
Computer room
Reading room with comfy chairs
Fitness room
Craft/sewing room
Play room
Closet/storage room
We have a playroom and a computer room together. Eventually it will be split into 2 rooms like we wanted orginally. One of the room is used for storage right now.

If I had an extra room, I would make an exercise room with a place to keep my equipment, and a tv and dvd player so I could do dvd workouts if I wanted. I would also get an elliptical or some other machine like that. Also maybe keep an ipod and speakers so I could listen to music while working out.

i have 2 bedrooms upstairs that are reserved for future kids right now one is a guest room - our old bed is in there...when both rooms are filled with children then we'll get a couch with a pull out bed in our loft for our guests...
downstairs our extra bedroom is the den/office - i love having a seperate room for the computer, the mail, bills and our junk

we don't have kids yet. 2nd BR is just a spare room with a love seat and TV. I do yoga in there when I make the time.
3rd BR is our office.
But when we have a child, then the office will just be an office. We don't need a guest room. Family is all on long island. 
I would def. use your extra room for you, especially since your DH will have his man cave. So go for that library or meditation room. and don't forget that lock.

Our rooms have changed purposes a few times since we moved in in 2004.
We currently have four bedrooms in addition to our master. Right now they are as follows
1) my stepdaughters bedroom
2) "junior master" or guest suite w/attached bath
3)Gym
4)DH's office/additional guest room currently used as the "puppy room"
we are in the process of adding a bedroom and bathroom in the basement for my adult son.
and we have a small, oddly shaped loft that is my craft room/office. DH built custom shelving to hold my stuff & a wrapping paper station that I always wanted-these pics are old, I have a different computer now & much MORE stuff

We have a 3 bedroom... one is a guest room and the other we are turning into a man cave... basically will have a futon (for extra sleeping space in case) tv, all video games, printer, etc .... a place to put all the crap from the living room

Our fourth bedroom will be an office/guestroom. The house since it was built in the 50s has had 2 extensions. The fourth bedroom was sort of made by default and has no windows, rather a skylight. I couldn't live in a room without a window nor would I expect either of my children to, so the only logical thing to do is to make it an office/guestroom.

one is a guest/office and the other is the "pub room" but i plan on switching things around where i put my desk back in the pub room along with the file cabinet and the spare bedroom stands alone.
