A poll--which dress UPDATED
I wore dress #1. I was all set to wear dress 3 and then I was in the mood for lighter colors. #1 was perfect and more slimming than dress #3. There were not a lot of people in gowns but there were enough where I would have felt okay if I wore the gown. A lot of people wore business suits but after wearing them at work so much, I don't like to wear them to these dinners. I still have the other 2 dresses so all I need are invites to more events!!!!!!
I'll be attending the annual installation of the Bar Association President and Directors again this year. It is at Villa Lombardi's on a Thursday night in June. I won't be called to the podium this year because I was sworn in last year for a 3 year term. Still, it is a chance to get decked out and party with the people that I work with all year. It's definitely a formal event but I am not sure if it calls for a gown.
My dress options:
1. )This dress, which apparently I did the right thing in snatching up b/c it was only available for about a month (at Ann Taylor, do they do that a lot?). It's a very silky dress and it has a slight shimmer that does not show in the photo.
2.) Or the one below in indigo. I bought it for the same event last year, but decided I did not like how my belly looked so I then bought (and wore) another dress but never returned this one. I have now lost enough weight that I would be so happy to wear this dress . The color is slightly lighter than the photo shows.
I should note that if I do not wear either of these 2 dresses now, I will have other chances to wear them so they are not a waste to have bought.
3.) Or, something that is in between these 2 in terms of dressiness.
4.) other option ('splain, please).
It did not post as a poll but still post votes, please!!!!!!!!

Re: A poll--which dress
I just noticed this on Ann Taylor. Is it s little bit dressier than the first one I posted? Should I order it? Their dresses seem to fit me well.
Opps, image won't post but it is called the Shadow Flower Print Cowl Neck Dress, Style #242351. It's short, obviously a cowl neck and it is blue and black. I'm thinking it may be just right even though I would love to wear my gown.

Re: A poll--which dress
I totally would go with the Indigo. The other ones seem to be not formal enough. And I love it!
Congrats on your weight loss!!
But I want to see pics of YOU in the dresses.

I don't like the indigo. It looks old-fashioned to me. Something like the other dresses you posted, but dressier.

Re: A poll--which dress
Hm, I think the Ann Taylor one is really nice but I don't know if it's dressy enough- I also really, really like the indigo one and think that might be more appropriate.
I am jealous that you have a work function to dress up for. All I get is an 8th grade prom every few years.

A lot of my work functions mean just staying in a business suit into the evening. I would rather either dress very casual or do the fun dress up thing like we do for this event. I wouldn't mind chaperoning a prom but maybe I would feel differently if I worked with kids all day.

That is what I was thinking too. I actually like the 3rd choice.

Re: A poll--which dress
Well, a 30% off Ann Taylor promo arrived in the mail today. I ordered the 3rd one and I will see how I like it. I know that the 1st one is casual enough that I can wear it this summer. Last year, as the date got closer some people started to talk about what they were going to wear. However, the 2-3 weeks before the event are going to be a bit hectic for me so I didn't want to wait. I'll update on how the 3rd one looks. I think it is between that and the indigo gown .

Re: A poll--which dress
I love that 3rd dress--I saw it online last week & wanted to order it, but I look awful in cowl necks.
I don't know if it is dessy enough for your even though. I can't see the 1st too well, but it also seems too casual.
I'd probably go with the gown.

Re: A poll--which dress
Updated to say that I bought the 3rd one and I love it but I am still not sure if it is right for the event. I am keeping it. I am accumulating dresses for other occasions as I shop for this one. It's okay, though because I love having other options for events where I'd otherwise just be in a business suit.
Still undecided about a dress for the event at Villa Lombardis.
