Some 9-10 month old feeding questions
I feel so clueless sometimes!
Okay here are my questions:
With yogurt, how are you giving it? As part of a meal or as a snack? I just can't figure this one out, because the portion size seems a bit big for a snack, but who knows.
And as far as table food...I've been told to just give bits and pieces of what DH and I are eating but the trouble is, we eat after she goes to bed and I don't even start cooking until she's in bed.
So...what easy things did you prepare for your DC to get used to table food? Easy types of food to prepare?
TIA!

I am also so curious- I think I am a little too cautious and really don't want to create a picky eater, yet at the same time, I get so nervous that I am going to give her something that she is not ready for

Re: Some 9-10 month old feeding questions
My DD is just turning 9 months l next week. I give her yogurt as a snack but she never finishes the whole serving. As far as table food, she refuses to take any of it.
I have tried cheerios, puffs, cut up sweet potato etc and she plays with it but refuses to put it in her mouth.
If I put it in her mouth for her she takes it right out. The only thing she ate a tiny bit of was meatball.
Does anyone else have this problem?

I definitely have this problem with alot of textures with DD. She loves the puffs, cheerios and puffed rice though. Pasta and cut up potato, veggies and fruit are a no go so far. I have yet to try pieces of meat, but guess that will be my next experiment.

I can't help you with the yogurt... DS really didn't like it. We are the same way with meals though. We eat once DS goes to bed... just easier for us. So, we usually give him one of the following...
Chicken (either nuggets or grilled) Macaroni & Cheese Pasta, ravioli, etc. Soup (with most of the broth taken out & low sodium) Grilled cheese Pizza Hamburger
Always some kind of veggie, either carrots, peas, green beans, etc.
He'll snack on fruit during the day. He loves bananas, diced pears, mangos.
HTH!

Re: Some 9-10 month old feeding questions
Hey Tara,
When I started yogurt I would give it to Emerson for breakfast in addition to fruit. Now I use yogurt as a snack.
For dinner you can give her anything.............pastina with egg, pasta, meatballs, mac and cheese (Annie's makes a good organic one) pancakes, shredded chicken, scrambled eggs, etc. You can make something in advance for her like meatballs and freeze them and just take one out when you need it. Make some pasta and then you have a meal for her for 2-3 days. Scrambled eggs and pancakes are always good in a pinch for dinner. Pastina takes 5 min to make and is a nice meal for them. Or, depending what you make for dinner put a little aside for her dinner the next night.

Re: Some 9-10 month old feeding questions
The yogurt we give to her either half of a container as a snack with some puffs or the whole container as breakfast.
My DD likes to eat and at just about 10 months old she starting to really like table food and not really like the baby food anymore. We give her anything that were eating for dinner. Her favorites are meatloaf and meatballs. She also likes grilled chicken. And for the few meals that we make that she doesn't like we always have leftovers for her in the fridge or she will have some turkey cold cuts.
If you eat after she goes to bed why not put a little aside in the fridge and feed her that the next day, then she'll be having what you have just the next day.

Re: Some 9-10 month old feeding questions
We give DD (just shy of 11 months old) yogurt for breakfast; meaning she has a 6oz bottle when she wakes at 6:30am, and then yogurt at around 9:30-10 after morning nap, and then she has her lunch at noon.
As far as table foods go, my DD is VERY picky when it comes to table foods. For instance.... I gave her Pastina with some butter the other day and she literally threw it up. So right now she mostly eats Puffs, Biter cookies, yogurt melts, and Gerber cheese doodle type thingys (can't remember what they're called). We always give her new things to try but we don't force anything. We figure she'll come around when she's ready.

Re: Some 9-10 month old feeding questions
Thanks everyone!
When you give them what you've had for dinner- I guess my concern is, I'm always making something with some sort of seasoning or marinade. Are you giving it to them like that or preparing it plain?
How about regular veggies?
TIA

Re: Some 9-10 month old feeding questions
My mom always told me not to make their food too bland... the only thing to stay away from too much of is red sauce. It tends to make the baby's face break out.
