I appreciate car seat drama today because....
It made me realize that my graco comfortsport is only made to go up to 40 lbs. And my son is 38 lbs. So time for a new seat!
Thank you for reminding me. I think otherwise I would not have even thought about it.
Any recomendations for a new seat?
ETA - nevermind on the recs. I didn't see maybeamommy's thread which is exactly what I'm looking for.

Britax gets the best reviews. Seriously. Worth every penny.

lol...like Brittany Spears did up the Pacific Coast Highway.
We have a recaro in our other car and was def. thinking britax to replace the Graco. I love the recaro but it is BIG and while it is fine in our SUV it would be way to bulky for our car. DH and I are going to BRU in a little bit to buy a new seat.

The Britax will last the longest in terms of your child growing taller and bigger. My 6 year old would still fit in it if I wanted to make him.

Also, keep in mind, that for most cars, somewhere around 40-48 lbs is the limit for the LATCH connectors. Check your owner's manual, and if it doesn't say it explicitly, assume 40 lbs is the limit, since some cars do have a 40lb limit, you should assume that all do, unless otherwise stated. After that, you have to use the seat belt to attach the car seat.

another question -- do i go for just a convertible or a booster.
He is 32 months so I anticipate he's going to be a big boy but still need a carseat...and this is the last one I'm going to buy.

thank you so much. I would have never thought of that. Let me check that too because we are using the latch.

Lisa, we are getting a Graco Nautilus 3 in 1 this weekend. We need another car seat for our second car and this one is a 5 point harness until 65 pounds, a high back booster and then a backless booster seat.
I figure if we needed to get another one for Lucas, we might as well get one he can really grow into.

Thanks for the offers. I found one online and we got the britax although I thought the nautilus was fine. Dh thinks that bc britax is more expensive it must be better...he's an idiot sometimes but I wasn't in the mood for an argument in the middle of bru. Thanks everyone.

Definitely Graco Nautilus. It has a 5 point harness up to 80lbs which most "booster" convertible car seats don't have.

I actually have a very difficult time seeing over it even in our SUV (we have an explorer). I just know in our car it would be too big because the back window kind of has a steeper slope than normal which allows less headroom.
I really love our recaro though.

omg i just check my car seat thanks so much for posting this my DD is 37 lbs i have the graco comfort sports in dh car & my inlaws car & britax in mine & they are all up to 40 lbs i just ordered from diapers.com the Graco Nautilus it was 159 & free shipping i need 3 car seats & its was easier to have them ship it to me even though i have a truck.
