An Interesting Christening Question
yes - we've waited this long to christen her...(monetary reasons).
so we have to have 2 godmommy's - LONG STORY.
normally - i know the godmommy's buy the dress. only one can afford to do it (understandably). is there something secondary i can ask the other godmommy to do/buy/etc. to make her feel like she contributed?
also - what about the god-daddy? is there something traditional he can do/buy? i don't want to make him feel left out at all...

Re: An Interesting Christening Question
in our family the godfather buys the cross necklace and the godmother the outfit
maybe the other godmother can buy - a really pretty Christening frame - cross to hang in bedroom - personalized onesie to wear under christening dress - outfit to wear after church ceremony - other accessories to christening outfit - shoes, socks, bib, etc

Ditto, Gabby's godmother did not buy the dress, however. BIL (godfather) got her a pretty cross.
Maybe godmother #2 could get the cake? Or a savings bond?
Sorry, just throwing idea out there.

Re: An Interesting Christening Question
If it will help you Jess, why not have godmommy 2 either make/buy/or contribute to the favors? (BTW if money is tight you can TOTALLY skip those; I know it seems like everyone does them but they are NOT required!!! I think we drive ourselves a little NUTSO keeping up with the Joneses etc ) I was also going to suggest she spring for the cake, like a pp suggested.
Those will definitely give her something "special" to contribute and will take a little of the financial burden off of you and DH.

Re: An Interesting Christening Question
thank you for the replies. we are definitely not doing favors. i personally have found them to be trinkets that get tossed (unless they are edible).

Re: An Interesting Christening Question
i was god mommy 2 times... child #1 i bought the dress and a gift certificate for the baby to get her ears pierced (i knew they wanted to get it done and it was affordable since the outfit was $$$) child #2 they already had an outfit and the godfather was getting a necklace cross our grand mother always buys the wall cross so she asked me to get a gold bracelet which is what i did!
