Failed my 1 hr GTT, chances of passing the 3 hr?

I did not fail with my DD and I have gained less weight and am more careful with my eating choices. Sigh. Go figure. I am taking the 3hr Saturday. My number was 53. Has anyone passed the 3 hr with a number like that?

53? Are you sure? That's VERY low. But it isn't considered failing. Depending on the OB failing is anything over 140 (some OBs use 130-135)

They told me 39 was passing, as in anything over 39 was too high.

Just to give you an idea... WITH GD, your fasting number should be under 100, but I believe (if I remember correctly) over 75.

Non fasting numbers should be under 120

agree, that is an incredibly low #. i failed the 1 hr with 130 (doc said passing would have been 120). i'd call back and check again.

regardless though, my doctor told me that most people do pass the 3hr test.

hmm maybe you had 153? I failed both the 1hr and 3 hr, so I'm not much help, but I've heard of many many ladies failing the 1 hr and passing the 3!

That doesn't sound right. It might be 153, 53 would be a problem even if you were fasting because the number is so low. Regardless you have an excellent chance of passing the three hour, many many women fail the one hour and pass the three hour.

I failed my 1 hour, my number was 166, and passing is either < 140 or <130, depending on who you ask.

I was sure I was going to fail, because the number was not even close to passing (so many women had numbers like 142), but I passed!

For the three hour my numbers were:
Fasting 71 (needs to be under 95)
1 hour 168 (needs to be under 180)
2 hour 125 (needs to be under 155)
3 hour 100 (needs to be under 140)

I figured my odds were about 50/50 because of my high 1 hour number initially, but I think overall only about 25% of women who fail the 1 hour also fail the three hour. It is a screening test, so it picks up a lot of people who DON'T have GDM in order to catch the people who do.

53 is VERY low....I would double check with your OB. I have GD and my fasting level with the modified diet has to be under 95, after meals under 120.

As for failing the 1 hour, I wouldn't stress to much. The majority of women who fail the 1 hour go on to pass the 3 hour with flying colors. Good luck!

I failed my 1 hr with Adriano. I passed the 3. I woudln't wprry. But to be honest with you I don't know what my numbers were.

maybe it was 153 because anything over 139 is failing. I failed my 1 hr and passed my 3 hr no problem Good luck!!
