Home Ownership Sux Sometimes - Vent

I'm cleaning the house and the TV is on HGTV of course, but not to loud and I start to hear this sound. I listen closer and it's like a water dripping on a metal surface sound. Then I think "oh it's the heat coming up in the DR". WRONG!!! The heat wasn't on. I go into the DR and OMG there is water splashed all over the hardwood floor near the AC wall unit. Chat Icon My mom lives downstairs and I yelled for her to come and help me clean up and get a bucket. Oh yeah, my DH is on a BUSINESS TRIP AGAIN!!!!!! Anyway, our neighbor looked from their window next door for us to see if there is some ice/snow and there is a little. So I have a feeling this will be dripping for a little while still. Chat Icon

It's quite a site really, there is a plastic garbage bag taped up to the AC unit from in the house with paper towels shoved into the drip pan inside the unit. Thank god I knew this is where it comes from because it happened last year too.

DH - next year we are covering the AC unit from the outside as well!!!! Sorry if you hate to get up on that ladder to the 2nd floor, but this must be done from now on.

Well lessoned learned for today.....always cover your AC units from the outside, especially on the 2nd floor where you can not get the snow off of them easily!!!

Vent over!Chat Icon

My parents would use a broom to remove the snow from the upstairs a/c unit before they got central air. They would open up a window and use a really long broom to remove the snow. HTH

Thanks for the tip, but we don't have one window on that side of our Hi-Ranch. Chat Icon
