Have you vacationed w/o DH?

I was just laid off recently and have time to take a vacation to Disney with DS and some friends.

Unfortunately, DH just started a new job so can't accompany me. Problem is, he doesn't like the idea of me going w/o him. He doesn't think it's right.

I'll like to take time off before starting up my jobhunt.

Has anyone taken a vacation w/o their DH? Is it wrong to want to make use of my time before returning to work and waiting months to build up vacation time?

Yes I have taken trips without DH. He would like to be with me/us, but at the same time would never hold me back because of his work schedule.

If you have the $$, I don't see why this should be an issue.

I actually just came back from disney. I work there seasonally and had to go work for a few days. Dh couldn't take the time off so I went by myself and my mom stayed with me when I worked. I did actually go to the parks by myself a few times and I won't lie, it was hard to get on the buses, but it was amazing. We bonded so mmuch and I have some great memories with him ill treasure forever. Dh was upset but I guess not that upset realizing how much $$ I save us by working thete haha

yup last year when jacen was 10 months old. I went with CHELLE and MCL916 and their kids. No husbands.

Yup. We'll be vacationing without him again in April. We're not going to Disney though... I probably wouldn't go there without him; at least not yet cause DD has never been to Disney. But we'll be going down to FL to visit family without him there.

I have not done so, but I would if DH couldn't get off of work. However, if you haven't been to Disney yet with DS, I could see how your DH wouldn't want you to go without him. In that case, I would skip the trip and go to Disney when all 3 of you could go.

The only issue for me would be money. I wouldn't want to take money away from going on a vacation as a family. If money is no issue, go for it!

I have , but not with DC. he is going away in a few weeks so I will be taking DS to AC w/ my mom and sister. He did not want us going w/DS but he's going away himself so oh well. if it was bc of work, I may consider his feelings a bit more

Personally, I wouldn't bring DS to Disney for the first time w/o DH. I feel like that is special trip and one I know he would want to be a part of. However, I have gone away without him with my girlfriends and in March I am going to Florida with DS without him.

Yes. I have gone away on Girls only trips with no kids as well as trips with my Mom/friends and just the kids. I also used to have to travel alone for work.

DH travels alone a lot for work. He also went to South America for a family party recently. He also goes on yearly golf trips without us.

I don't see it as a problem at all.

I wouldn't go to Disney the first time without DH just because I'd want him there (and he'd want to be there) for DD's first experience.

I have gone to Clearwater, FL with DD without DH to visit his grandma and go to the beach. When I first quit my job, DD and I spent a month back home spending time with our families.

So I would go places without DH but I feel Disney the first time should be a family affair.

I have vacationed without DH, both on my own (with friends) and with DS. But I don't think I would do a family tyoe trip like Disney without DH if he wasn't comfortable with it.

Yup, I went to Florida with DD and some girlfriends to visit my parents without the hubby .

Yes. I went to Vegas for my bachelorette party and left him with the boys.

I also have gone skiing with the boys and without him.

I haven't, at least not with DD. I definitely would not go to Disney World without him. That's a really special trip. Perhaps plan a less monumental trip?

Personally, and this is just me, I wouldn't vacation without DH. But that's us, we like to always do everything together and neither of us would really have too much fun apart. I think it stems from dating since we were 16 years old.........we grew up together, did everything together, and still do so I can't really imagine vacationing without him.

That being said, I don't think there is anything wrong with taking your DC on vacation if your DH can't come and you're both cool with that but like others said, I would save your DS first Disney trip for when his Dad can be there to experience it too!! I remember my first time as a kid in Disney, it was SO magical and I know my parents were thrilled to be there together to watch me and my siblings experience Disney for the first time.

How about a Disney cruise??? This way it's a little bit Disney, lots of fun stuff for you and your DS to do plus you can have some alone down if you want to relax while he plays in the kid camps.

We are taking a 4 day trip to Georgia to see my sister the last week in March, DH is not coming. We are going Thurs.- Sun. and he cannot get those 2 days off of work.
