Moms of a toddler AND an infant...
Which side of your car did you put the toddler's car seat on? Which side did you put the infant car seat on? Does it matter? Is it just preference or is there some kind of safety issue?? TIA!

I didn't feel like moving DD's seat when DS arrived, so DD is behind the driver's seat and DS is on the other side.

I have DS who is the toddler behind the driver's seat and DD who is the infant behind the passenger seat.
My reasoning is if I am ever parked on a street, I don't want to bring the infant on the side of the car where there is traffic. I figure I can send DS in through the passenger side and he can go get into his seat, I can snap DD into hers then go around to the street side and buckle DS up.

I have Samantha (toddler) on the passenger side and Kristina (baby) iin the middle....it just worked for us! This way, I could get in next to them (behind the drivers side) and feed Kristina as needed!

I think the safest place (other than the middle assuming your car doesn't have the middle available- most cars don't) is behind the passenger so IMO the smallest kid should go behind the passenger. The second safest place is behind the driver. I believe the reasoining is due to what side has a higher chance of being hit. Carseatsafety should hopefully be able to clarify for us because I need to install the second seat soon too.

i'm due in a few months w/ #2. I think I want to keep DS on the passenger side. since he is mobile, I don't want him on the street side. it makes sense for the infant carrier to be on the street side, bc the baby won't go anywhere. I would take the carrier out first, then go around to the passenger side and take DS out. he will be 19 months and I don't trust him to get in his seat from the passenger side, he already knows how to open the door at 17 months
I wish I could put the infant in the middle but I don't think my truck recommends that, and I don't want DS smacking the poor kid around while i'm driving!

In my car we cannot put a rearfacing car seat anywhere but behind the drivers seat. For some reason the Latch system only works this way. So we are moving Kaydyn's car seat to behind the passenger seat so that we can put the infant seat behind me.
In my DH's car I think we're going to just leave Kaydyn behind the driver and put the infant seat behind the passenger, just so we don't have to move stuff around.

I am going to do the same thing. DD#1 will be a lot more needy and I can easily turn around and hand her something if she needs it (sippy, paci, etc..) If she was behind the driver I wouldnt be able to do that.
