I always got less expensive ones, as I never cared before but now with the prospect of a home, my decor-hormones are flourishing.

Is this normal?

Or considered pricey?

i just love this dish.
ETA: I never had a bridal shower or got home-gifts when I got married, so I'm a little lost. lol

I would say that is expensive. My everyday dinner dishes were about 17 or 18 and they're lenox.

Mine were $30 a plate from Williams Sonoma... I don't know if that's a lot or a little though?

I think it's pricey, but it really depends on what fits in your budget!

my casual dinnerware was $48 a setting. I think the dinner plate is the most expensive part of it and it was a 5 pc place setting.

i think that's pretty pricey but doesnt mean you can't do it. that's a pretty unique design - you could always buy one plate and display it

It's pricey and it looks handpainted. A must for me is it has to be able to go in the dishwasher Chat Icon

THAT'S WHAT I WOULD DO! i really really love the plate, but think that is way too much to pay. keep shopping, or at least use some coupons.

I don't think the cost is obscene, but something to take into consideration is how many plates do you need?

What if one chips/breaks, can it be replaced (especially if you have kids)?

Do they offer coordinating pieces: mugs, soup/cereal bowls? Or are you only interested in the dinner plates and will mix other pieces into the place setting?

Its on the pricey side. Do you plan on buying a full service or just one for decorative purposes?

these sets are stoneware (I worked for Oneida and I developed many of these sets)

you really can't compare them to a porcelain or ceramic plate

who makes this plate? how much are the rest of the pieces?

When I first saw your thread title - my immediate reaction was no way!

Upon opening the thread and seeing the plate I change my answer to a HECK YES!

I looooooooooove that plate. Loove it. Chat Icon

eta: It would help me lose weight too b/c I would never want to put food on it and cover it up. Chat Icon

eta again: Check out Pfaltzgraff - they have some interesting patterns now.

its really not that much! yes there are a ton of less expensive plates out there, but if you love it, get them!!!

My everyday dinner plates are imported from italy, I just loved them though! they are currently selling for $25 for just the dinner plate.

Make sure they can go in the dishwasher and microwave, that was important to me

No way. Maybe if it was for display for a hutch or something I would buy maybe one or two. But with all the designs out there and Homegoods selling awesome things, I would not.

If you love it, get it. People spend so much on fine china and only use it a few times a year.

I wouldn't spend that.

If you like the dish- maybe buy one and use it as a decorative piece (hang it on the wall or on a stand)

Well now that I saw Anthro carries it, I'd wait till it goes on sale. They always have great sales !

I like this idea. Or I would buy 2 and use them as side dishes for vegetables or other things. It depends on if they match your other dishes.

you know, that's a good idea -- buying one and displaying it.

It is from anthro and they don't seem to have sets - just single dishes. I'm not even sure of the size or material, as I didn't investigate past going "oooh, that's pretty!"

I'm just so picky and hem and haw over what I like for a long timeChat Icon
