That is old news. That petition was started in September of 2009.

It stinks but NY is bankrupt and something has to give.
I would hate to see more people layed off so if its a choice between getting rid of Star or reducing jobs- I think its a good decision- jmo

My taxes go up I might not be able to afford to live in my house.
There are other ways to find money.

I believe it was the REBATE program, not the EXEMPTION program that was eliminated....meaning if you get a STAR exemption currently on your taxes, you should still be getting that...for now...

i don't think they will have the rebate ever again. The standard star program though from what i gathered will go on.

I hate to say it, but you are right. Laying people would have an even worse effect on the economy overall. And then people cannot pay their taxes, and the state loses more money.

we only got the rebate for a few years...$500 is nice, but it's not a factor on if I'm able to stay in my house.

I thought perhaps they were both going away. I did hear about that.
The rebate program is not a lot compared to STAR.

This guy continues to amaze me! Did anyone see the video clip this week of him saying that the only way he will leave office is in a coffin? Then a few weeks ago he commented on the Jets losing in the finals. He said that the players wives would have done a better job. Um, this coming from the Governor of NY. He is such a jerk.

I'm still getting my STAR abatement that gets deducted from my rent... its only 40/month as compared to 60/month but I already knew we wouldn't get those 400.00 checks in November
