I would let her do it when she's in elementary school if she asks to have it done but I haven't discussed it with DH yet.

Re: women who are having girls

I have one DD now, she is 2 and her ears are not pierced.

She can have them when she is old enough to ask.

Same will apply to this one, if it's a girl. Or boy, for that matter. Chat Icon

Nope, but if she wants it when she is older, she can have it. I don't have a problem with it for other people, its just not for us when they are babies, I don't think it looks cute.

I have a girl already and will do it when she asks for it.

I'd like to make a special day of it whenever that day comes. I remember going with my parents when I had it done and the pain/gun didn't scar me for life.

Re: women who are having girls

I got DD #1's ears pierced at 9 months. She pulled her ear lobes when falling asleep before that. I guess it depends if DD #2 is an ear puller.

I dont know if its a boy or a girl but if I do have a girl I will definitely get her ears peirced at about 3 months old.

My mom did mine when I was 3 months old and Im fine Chat Icon My mom said it was actually a good thing that she did it young because I wasnt aware of them and didnt touch/fiddle with them.

Same here! I personally love little girls with their ears pierced and mine were done at 3 months too.

with both I plan to wait until they are older and ask for it. we'll make it a mother daughter event with a special lunch. i don't care if they ask at 6 years old or as a teen.

Whenever the pediatrician says it's OK, I'm doing it! My mother did it with me and I think that baby girls with pierced ears are so cute! I want to do it before she is big enough to tug on them too!

i had mine done when i was young. i remember crying when the lady showed me the gun and the sound it made...apparently the noise scared me hehehe.

i think i would have preferred to be older and want it for myself.

my ears were sensitive and i could only wear gold until i got older. i didnt really care about earrings either. so if it were up to me...i prolly wouldnt have pierced them.

but that being said...ill prolly wait to see if Chat Icon wants them when shes older and make it into a special outting.

good points...what if DD grows up and is not into them. I like the waiting for her to be old enough to decide if she wants them.

my dd never messed with hers and if she WAS to swallow it, they are so tiny, it would not be an issue at all ...I have the ones with screw backs

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon interesting you'd be ok with DD swallowing an earring b/c you think it's too small. This is scary...I know a 3 mo old who died b/c he picked up and swallowed the tiniest screw on the floor...tore up his insides and he passed away. BTW, I used screw back with my dd and she STILL managed to get them out...don't presume that I am OKAY with her swallowing them but I do not watch over her 24-7 so is it possible, YES

Re: women who are having girls

I already have a DD and will not pierce her ears. I am not going to make the decision for her. If when she is older she wants to get them pierced, then I will gladly take her.

Re: women who are having girls

If I have a DD I wish I could have her ears pierced as an infant but I am very allergic to jewelry of all kind & I wouldn't want to take the chance of giving my DD an infection especially as an infant. If she wants when she is older to try it out than I would let her.

Re: women who are having girls

my aunt did my ears when I was less than a month old she is a pediatric nurse and did all the girls in our family.......
the older generation (I am 31) and the kiddies starting at 13 to 2 years old.....
For us it is cultural and the earrings are totally safe.......

I think the fact that it is not painful is a good reason I also think it is adorable on little girls

Mine were done at 5 days old in the hospital before I came home.

I think now they make you wait until 3 months or so.
