Re: looking at a house tonight
when we came back to our house for a second look, the owner was home so we got to ask her lots of questions that her REA wouldn't or couldn't answer for us, like 'do you remember when the windows were replaced' or 'were those cracks in the plaster always here from when you moved in' or 'how is the light during the day/is it very dark in here during the day with all the trees outside.'
obviously, it's different depending on the owner or the person showing the house, but our second look sold us on the house and we made an offer a day and a half later.

Re: looking at a house tonight
If the house has oil heat, definitely ask where the oil tank is (undrground or above-ground). And ask how old the boiler is. We (and our realtor!) didn't ask these questions and it became an issue after we had an accepted offer - we would have / should have offered less if we'd known the answers.
