had a cervical cerclage on sat and now im on bed rest
I went to the Dr on Friday for a cervix recheck and it was only 1 cm long! Dr had me drive straight over to Winthrop and I had a cerclage (sewing of cervix) on Saturday. I was so scared for the procedure, but really the only difficult thing was the spinal anesthesia.
i was discharged today, but it looks like i will be on bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy -- about 4 more months 
my dr said that i was already starting to dilate and my membranes were so low (i am only 16 wks) -- i am so lucky they caught it in time or my water would have broken  now i have to go for weekly checks and once it starts changing again i have to go back to the hospital and complete my bed rest there 
i was on bed rest when i was PG with DS but my issues didnt start until 32 weeks and I only had to stay on strict bed rest for 3 weeks.
i am really overwhelmed and frustrated, but i know the most important thing is the safe delivery of my babies - i just need a lot of strength to get through these next few months - especially since my little boy is 2.5 and i hate not being able to spend much time with him.
it also doesnt help that we were supposed to be leaving for Disney tomorrow...now im stuck lying in bed (yes, i cant even sit) until further notice....i feel like such a prisoner.
anyway, i guess i just needed to vent and get some tips/advice from others who have been on bed rest for long to help me get through this!!

I'm so sorry, I am sure it is really hard seeing you have a child already. You will get through this. You can still read to him and color with him. To keep yourself from going crazy I would play games online and chat with us all day! POGO.com is a good site.

for you and your little ones!!
i was at home on modified bedrest for a little while and also have a 2 1/2 yr old. we watched a lot of movies, did puzzles, coloring books (crayola color wonder stuff was great), read books, flash cards etc.

I had an emergency cerclage done at 26 weeks (which was about 4 weeks ago) and I am on a modified bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy with my twins. You will get through it and I am here in the same situation if you want to chat!!

I too am getting a cerclage on weds.... I was on bedrest at 20 weeks my last preg, its not easy and it can be a little depressing. But just think that there will be light at the end of the tunnel you are gonna have gorgous babes!! Do you hAve anyone to help you out with your son? Everything will be great! best of luck and stay calm every day is one day closer!!!

as far as pogo.com, i think i already spend a couple hours a day on that site...im already bored and this is only the 2nd week --- im in trouble!

yes - thankfully i have so much help with him, but i just get so sad that i cant spend the time i want to with him. i know i will be so preoccupied once the twins arrive and i hate that i am losing my "special" time with him now

i have a Cerclage too, it really isnt fun and i feel your pain
on the bright side, i am so happy they caught this before it was too late.. thats what happened to me with my first pregnancy.
i hope the time goes fast for you on bedrest. reading helps, or puzzle books.. things like that!!
