Ok so on average how much do closing cost run in suffolk county??

Ours were 5% of purchase price and included 6 mos of taxes

How does when you close affect it? Do you pay the taxes that are left in the year, or the months that already passed?

for us we closed at the end of the year so we had to bank away the entire year's worth of taxes.

I think if you close in the beginning of the year you just have to pay back the first six months.

It depends when the taxes are due, and if the current owner has / has not paid them...It also depends if your bank will be escrowing for taxes and insurance...

The date that you close also determines how much pre-paid interest you'll pay...you pay at closing for the interest for the balance of that month...so the earlier in the month you close, the more you'll pay...
