Anyone have Stand Alone Freezers? Updated with 2 questions!
Does anyone have a stand alone freezer?
If so, what are your recommendations? Chest, Upright - frost free, Upright - manual defrost?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
ETA: For those of you who have a frost-free upright, can you share:
1. The brand - Kenmore, Whirlpool, Frigidaire
2. Do you have any complaints about noise as I have read many issues regarding this online for every model known to man?

Re: Anyone have Stand Alone Freezers?
We have a chest freezer and my parents have an upright, I prefer the upright. It is much easier to see and get to what you have in the freezer.

We have a frost-free upright. We felt the chests didn't hold enough and it was awkward to get items out of the chest and it's not like they save you that much room when compared to an upright.

We have a small chest, but it was free, so we took it. I love having something extra, but the next time we buy one I would want an upright. If you have the room for the upright I would get that.

Re: Anyone have Stand Alone Freezers?
We have a Kemore frost-free upright. We chose it over a chest freezer becauase we felt it would be easier to store things, like when I make dinner trays and freeze them, etc.
Since we always have it pretty full and use it all the time, I did not want the hassle of haivng to defrost it every now and then.

Same here. My parents have a chest freezer and it's a pain in the a$$ to get stuff out of there when it's full especially if you need something near the bottom. Because of their advice we opted for the upright and I am so happy I did.

We have a chest, it is great. No issues with frost or anything, I think it was $150.

1. We have a GE that we purchased off the floor at Home Depot. I believe it's around 20 cuft. (I can get you the model #, but we purchased it 7+ years ago, so I don't know if that would be any of use to you.)
2. The freezer is in our basement, but I can't say I ever noticed any level of noise when I'm down there doing laundry.
