Nope, I only wanted a house w/ sewers in Suffolk. Our development has underground wires and sewers, not cesspools.

Re: Cesspool or Sewer?
We have sewers in West Islip (south of Southern State) and get a bill quarterly. It's really inexpensive though and totally worth it.

Re: Cesspool or Sewer?
I you look in the road there should be manholes marked as sewer if you have sewers in your area. There may be drainage ones too but the sewer ones will be marked as such. If you are in Suffolk you can also go to Bergen Pt sewage treatment plant and they will be able to tell you if you have the tax lot number. You can also check the yard. If you have a manhole cover on your property its prob your septic tank cover.

Our old/original cesspool had a cover, but ivy & grass had grown over it, so you couldn't tell it was there. (It was in the backyard.)
When we had our new septic system installed, they just buried it in the front yard. There is no access cover.

Same here we had to get a new one put in. The guy came with a metal rod and poked at the ground till he found it.

Re: Cesspool or Sewer?
We are in north shore Nassau and have cesspools! I don't think there are too many residences in the Town of Hempstead that aren't connected to the sewer.

Re: Cesspool or Sewer?
Goldenrod, who did you get to put your system in? Would you recommend them?
Anyone else, which are good companies to call?
Thanks

I honestly don't know. My GC took care of getting it done, so I don't know who he subcontracted to for the installation.
