Re: Talk to me about...

We live in Lindenhurst. Good schools, nice neighborhoods, close to a lot of things (shopping, parkways). The village has lots of shopping and restaurants. If you live in the Village of Lindenhurst you have to pay village taxes as well as town taxes, so that is the only con in my opinion. ETA: you want to look at house in the Lindenhurst school district, not Copiage.

West Babylon is pretty much the same. They have a great little village with lots of stores and restaurants. Good schools from my understanding. There are lots of girls on here from Lindy and WB.

Re: Talk to me about...

I agree with JldDolphin. Two good towns.

Also, for West Babylon, you might prefer to stay south of southern state. Many homes north of SS are listed as West Babylon but are really Wyandanch.

The good part about WB and Lindy is that you have access to the Babylon Town Beaches and the water park at Venetian Shores.

Re: Lindenhurst and West Babylon...

I live in Lindy now but am moving in 2 weeks. We looked for houses in WB and Lindy but just didnt find the one. We are moving to Farmingdale but if we had found the right house in WB or Lindy we would have stayed....We have been here for 3 years and loved living so close to the beach....Beach hut at Venetian Shores in the summer is a great place for a drink and music!!!!!

my friend from HS sang in a band (accent)that played there. we LOVED going there. any nice day / chance we got, we went there. only after 5PM so i didn't have to pay to get in.
. people who grew up in lindy / WB stay there.

I have lived in WB most of my natural born life Chat Icon

I love the area...close to everything. I have lived off of Arnold Avenue...Price wise you may find a little more space for the dollar on the number streets, but the area off of Arnold Avenue IMO is much nicer. Tons of shopping nearby and you are a 5 minutes from Babylon or Lindenhurst train station if you commute to the city, Lindy Village and Babylon Village offer tons of restaurants, little 'fun' shops, minutes from the beach etc....

FM if you have specific questions....good luck with your search Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Lindenhurst and West Babylon...

I grew up in WB and would definitely move back if I could. The schools are great and like others mentioned, you have access to the TOB parks and what not.

Re: Lindenhurst and West Babylon...

We live in Lindenhurst now. My DH grew up here and he thinks it is the greatest town on the planet. I find that with a lot of his friends. Nobody ever leaves once they get here. There is definitely a strong sense of loyalty. The schools are good and there is a ton of parking if you commute to the city. I love being close to the water. As PP wrote, Venetian Shores is great, especially if you have a family.

Cons: The village is eh. It looks okay but doesn't have much going on when compared to Babylon. We pay village taxes and I have hard time justifying why. I don't think we get any added benefit from when I lived in a non-village. Or if we do, they are so minimal that I can't even tell. I can tell you the snow removal is horrendous but I'm not sure if that's TOB or the Village.

If you are leaning towards Lindy, I would look in the Merridale Park area. IMO, that's the nicest section of the town.

Yes,...West Baba-danch is just beyond the Southern State Parkway overpass. There you have WB schools with Wyndanch pricing and addresses. I live on the number streets and love love love it here. In my opinion you get more land on this side of WB then on the other.
