Insomnia....a small vent
I get up for work at 6am. Get home at 7pm. (Commute = 1.5 hours each way). The subway stairs kill me. I am so exhausted I can barely walk up the stairs. I get home and eat and try to go to sleep. I may fall asleep for an hour and then sit up, wide awake for the rest of the night. <Hey, at least I'm caught up on Jersey Shore. >
Of course I usually fall back asleep at 5:50am and then have to get up 10 min later.
I am so cranky and take it all out on DH.
I'm 17 weeks now. Will the sleep issue get any better? Yawn. So tired.
Thanks for listening. I'm usually not one to complain.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but it did not for me.
Do you have the snoogle? Some say it helps.
It is hit or miss for me.

Re: Insomnia....a small vent
I find the best thing to do when i can't sleep is to just get up. I go on the couch, watch some TV and have a snack (usually some cereal) and try to relax. It doesn't happen right away, but my eyes will usually start to get tired and then I go back to bed. I find laying on the couch to be atleast more relaxing then tossing and turning in bed.

It will get better for you. I got the best sleep from like 22-30 weeks, After that, it was awful again. I am due tomorrow and I think Ive slept 4 hours in the last 2 nights...very anxious and uncomfortable. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Insomnia....a small vent
I hate to say this but It doesn't get any better, at least for me it hasn't. I started having sleep issues early on and now they're just worse. I'm up every 2 hours, sometimes when I get up I can't fall back asleep and when I do the alarm clock rings 2 secs later.. I'm just not comfrtable anymore.

Re: Insomnia....a small vent
It comes and goes really - for me at least, I'll have maybe 2 good nights and then bam - the insomnia is back again - its been throughout the pregnancy. I just am thankful for those few really good nights of sleep. Hang in there! I'm sure your commute is not easy, can you rest at all at work - even if you don't 'nap' but just rest somewhere for 5 minutes to reboot?

UGH I totally feel your pain. I am 18 weeks today and the insomnia has just started to get a little better for me this past week. I did get the Snoogle pillow and have no idea if that's what made it better or not. But I am very comfortable sleeping with that. Got it at Bed Beth with the coupon.
I also agree getting up for a little bit is more relaxing than tossing and turning in bed.
They say exercise during the day helps you sleep better at night. Even if you just walk for 20 minutes. I have yet to try that Also I read warm milk before bed.

Re: Insomnia....a small vent
The Snoogle helped me so much throughout my pregnancy....i had the worst insomnia. But before i had the snoogle....i would fall asleep on my couch. So thats where a slept throughout my first trimester.
Towards the end of my pregnancy....NOTHING helped! NOTHING! But i must say not sleeping during my pregnancy is helping me now with my DD. I have no problem waking up a few times a night to feed her...i dont even feel exhausted!
