Does anyone else have problems with FIOS????
We just got it installed the other day and I have been trying to set up our voicemail - I am following their instructions and it just keeps telling me that our phone number isn't recognized. I have been on the phone on hold for 90 mins already...this is our 4th phone call with an issue since it was put in.
Also can anyone tell me the difference between the FIOS digital phone and the Freedom Essentials - they just gave us digital and never offered the other plan - can someone tell me about it. Is it worth switching? They also didn't tell us that you have to dial a 10 digit number to make any phone calls including to the same area code.

I had the voice mail setup problem to and had to call Verizon and they made some changes and added it to my account... For some reason you have to call Monday to Friday.... The Digital and Freedom plan is a $10 to $15 price difference... I think the Freedom comes with a back up just incase the power is out in your neighborhood you can still talk on your phone for 8 hours.

Hmmm ours comes with a power back up too.
That is great b.c I couldn't get thru during the week either. I have been without voicemail since it was put in on Monday. I only tried to set it up on Wed though but every time I call I'm on hold like 90 mins and have to hang up to do something else (since we just moved we have a lot going on and I have 2 kids 7 months and 2.5 so it is hard to sit on hold and get stuff done when I have to leave the house).

for setting up your voice mail call your area code 631 or 516 then 244-7792 and I think you have to enter in your 10 digit phone number and follow the directions...

See they told me to dial 18882346786 and put in the last 4 digits of my phone number.

we had it installed on Tuesday, and they didn't give us any VM instructions. We haven't set up our mailbox, and I've had a message for days that I can't get to.
Just tried both the numbers listed above - neither worked for me. Guess I'll call tomorrow.

I think the pin number is your last 4 digits of your phone number for now...

The number given above doesn't work. Yeah they just put it in and gave us nothing and didn't explain anything at all. Totally nothing like cablevision who made sure everything was hooked up and working. The only thing they made sure to tell me was "oh btw you won't be able to use the online help b.c you have a mac and it only supports windows and vista." Which we didn't know before setting up. We love the picture on the TV but so far not very happy with FIOS. See we don't even get an answering machine it just rings and rings and rings forever if the person lets it - nothing picks up.

That is what I found online - but when I put it in I'm told my phone number isn't a valid number

Your suppose to get a letter in the mail with all the directions but I didn't want to wait and called FIOS and had it setup for me even though they didn't have my account setup for voicemail.

LOL sorry it is just one more issue to add to our long list. They couldn't get our boxspring upstairs so we had to buy a split and sleepys screwed it up twice. They are so sleazy it isn't funny. Hopefully they will be able to fix the problem tomorrow. Do you have to dial 10 digit phone numbers to many any phone calls?

Have you gotten thru it was horrible to get a person on the phone the message keeps trying to fix it saying they checked my lines and they are fine but I could arrange for a tech to come but it would take time. Or I can go to their website and look there BUT it doesn't support mac so I can't do that either. So I'm now back on hold again for over 90 mins and still haven't been able to get a live person just music.

they never gave us a choice on the phone and didn't tell us about the 10 digit dialing when they set it up either we thought (and the alarm company too) thought our phone didn't work.

someone called here this morning, so we're set with VM now but our alarm isn't hooked up to the phone yet. We couldn't access the website either since it didn't support firefox but we got in using IE. Crazy that you cant get in on a Mac.
did you try calling your home phone number and getting into VM that way?

did you try calling your home phone number and getting into VM that way?
yup after 187 mins on hold I finally got a call from customer satisfaction who got me thru to a tech. Well although my paperwork said we got voicemail they "forgot" to put in paperwork for the order and told us 1-2 most likely 2 days until it will be processed. No they can't do anything sooner or anything to help. Just sorry you are out of luck.
