Fios Help please!

Does everyone who has fios have to dial the area code every single time they want to make a phone call? We just moved and switched to FIOS and we can't make any phone calls without dialing the area code each time (even to 516 numbers when we have a 516 phone number). We called and they told us that FIOS does 10 digit dialing and that is what everyone does that has them. I have never heard of that before is that correct?

We don't have fios (we will in 15 days) but, we still have to dial all 10 digits even for local calls. We are in NJ. We have had to do that for at least the past 5 years.

I have FIOS and I don't have to dial 516 for my local calls. Weird

My husband called them twice and they say if you have FIOS you have to dial a ten digit phone number whenever you make a phone call. We just started with FIOS we have optimum at the old house and never had to do that. The tech didn't even tell us we only found out when we tried to make calls and when you don't use the area code they then you get a prerecorded message saying to hang up and use the 10 digit number. We were told it was the only way to make phone calls and that it is our only option.

I have been dialing 1+area code for years even in the same area code. It's annoying at first but you get used to it.

we're 516 and don't have to dial the area code to make another 516 call; only for numbers outside our area code.

my mom lives in queens (718) and has to put in the area code for another 718 call.
