at what age did your DC start coloring with crayons?

i tried today with allison and she was more interested in chewing on them...just wondering when they actually "get" the act of coloring?

My girls were doing it before 1 when we would go out to eat. They would still eat them too.

about 13-14 months old. on occasion she will go to put one in her mouth but stops as soon as I say "yuck".

about 1 1/2....but don't get me wrong, he still eats them once in a while at 2 years old - and he colors ALOT (but usually takes a bite out of a least one crayon each time)

Chloe was coloring at crayons by 16 months but she started using the mini magnadoodle at 13 months-

Right before DD was 1...she never ate them (she hated eating ANYTHING back then, so it worked to my advantage sometimes )

DS started about 12 months (because he loved coloring with his older sister.)

DD was probably a little later than that - 14 months or so.

Every now and then they would put it in their mouths and I'd just say yucky and they'd stop.

We just started trying in the past couple of month (DD will be 2 next month)...before then she would just try to eat them.

Now she likes to color and does it almost every single day.

before 1 but there was a time she would eat them too

DD started around 14 months or so. She doesn't really put them in her mouth, which is surprising, since she puts everything else in there!

my dd is 2 1/2 and while she holds the crayon correctly, she still just scribbles

around 14 months. he really doesn't try to eat them at all.

My DD is 14 1/2 months old and started "coloring" a few weeks ago. She likes to scribble on the paper........she totally gets how to use them BUT you still have to watch her so she doesn't eat them too!!

i'll keep introducing them to her, she's 11 months now, so hopefully in the next few months she'll start to use them to scribble...i always feel silly when we go to a restaurant and they give us crayons. i quickly take them away from her before she makes it her appetizer

I bought DD those crayola tubbie looking things and tried, she was more interested in banging them together or against her tray...I'm going to get regular crayons and see how she does with them...DD is just about 12 months

DS is 15 months and he is just now starting to "get" it - probably because they do a little coloring in day care. But he still wants to eat them

DS changed daycare at 14 mos - his first day he drew me a picture - I laminated it

I guess around 20 mos I introduced them at home - not sure why it took me 6 mos.

He also likes rubber stamping now...but that's a little messy when he puts the stamp upside down on the ink pad....eh, that's what soap/baths are for!
