Spinoff of LIPA credit

DH and I are closing on our house next week and though I used to live on long island, i have lived in queens for a long time now.

I am just wondering what everyone pays a month for their LIPA - it is an electric house; no gas lines

Thanks :)

Wow, we pay about $90 - $130 in the winter and over $200 in the summer for a small 2 bedroom apartment with gas heat.

I've always thought our landlord (who lives downstairs) was ripping us off and that we're paying for some of his circuits. Now I really think so.

We have a decent sized 2 bedroom. We have gas heat but electric cooking. Our Balanced billing is currently $55/month. It just dropped down from $69/month.

Our landlord is otherwise great, the rent is cheap and he hasn't raised it in 3 years, so we kind of just let it go... but I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that in the summer, with our two energy-star air conditioner in the apartment (only one on at any given time), we pay about $215 a month.

We have our own meter for our apt.(landlords son lives upstairs) We were paying $110 when we moved in (April 09) on the balanced billing plan. We transfered our act from our 1 br apt. I figured because it was a 3 br apt that was why it was more. but then every month we had a credit building up. then they readjusted our balanced billing and the payment went down to $90 and then they adjusted it again down to $50/month. I think for next year the balanced billing amount will be about $75.

Re: Spinoff of LIPA credit

why have the balanced billing if it gets readjusted so often?!? doesnt that defeat the purpose? lol

the 1st adjustment was beacuse the original amount was based off a combination of the previous tenant usage and the usage we had at the other apt (just transfered the acct.) They adjusted it because we were not using as much as they did and I asked them to re-evaluate my account. The 2nd adjustment was because of the recent price reduction.

Re: Spinoff of LIPA credit

It readjusts if there is a 10% swing either up or down. You can answer if it's worth it or not.
