Lend America is going out of business
Just an FYI for anyone who was dealing with them or looking to.
There is an article in Newsday. They just laid off 600 empolyees

I am suprised this didn't happen sooner
the owner is a felon
and I knew a processor for them who left almost a year ago b/c they were losing their NY Banking Lic
I feel very sorry for all the innocent people that worked there- it's not an easy time to be out of work in the mortgage industy

DH worked for AMerican Home Mortgage back when they went out.....they were the first big one to really start the flood gates of bankruptcy of the mortgage cos.....he was lucky to get another job but not in the mortgage industry.....many of the people he worked with are hopping from one mortgage co to another

I know someone that got into the mortgage industry during the wave, he did REALLY well then reality hit. He got a job with LendAmerica and was working 14 hour days and lots of weekends when their cheesy scam alert info-mercial would run. He was making no money. I was thinking how could you work so hard and not close any deals? He left very recently to try working in the debt consolidation business.
It is so sad that so many people will be jobless now.

they didn't go bankrupt - they are in trouble with HUD and FHA for fraud
and to back up my statement that the owner is a Felon.....why this man was allowed back in the business is beyond me...it's common knowledge in the industry that he is a felon and running Lend America
The U.S. attorney's complaint said Ashley violated regulations laws and an industry ban throughout his career, including falsifying documents to meet funding guidelines of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Ashley plead guilty in 1993 to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with instances of mortgage fraud, according to the complaint.
