if your baby STTN....how many times..

do you check on him / her?

DS goes to sleep around 8 usually and I will check on him (go into his room) at least once before I go to bed. Sometimes 2x. We keep the audio monitor downstairs with us when we watch TV and then I have the video monitor next to our bed. When I wake up during the night I pop on the video monitor to check on him. I usually wake up a few times, it has become automatic...

He has a cough still and I just read the choking thread so I am a total worrywart! Chat Icon

Um... none Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I can't keep her door open because of the cat, and if I open her door she'll wake up.

I keep an eye on her via the video monitor. I also pop the monitor on throughout the night if I happen to wake up.

Last night though, I kept her door open enough so I can listen to her breathing since she is sick. We just put a gate up at the hallway entrance to her room, so I kept that closed so the cat couldn't get through. Normally I don't like to keep the gate closed at night, but I made an exception last night.

See that's the thing..I can't hear him on the monitor (well I can hear him coughing or babbling or crying) but I can't hear his breathing because of the fan and the humidifier noise...Chat Icon

Ditto. I listen outside her door, and we have the monitors, too.

I find, even with the humidifier going (which is next to her crib), if I turn the volume all the way up on the video monitor, I can hear her breathing. I usually keep it on the lowest volume setting, but last night, I had it all the way up and it was able to pick up her breathing over the sound of the humidifier.

We never check on him. I used to keep the door slightly open but then the cat went in and tried to sleep in the crib with DS. My monitor is loud and I can hear any little noise that goes on.

We keep her door closed so the cats and dog don't go in. I listen/watch her through the video monitor.

I'm a NUTSO mom and DH yells at me all the time because I'll "ghost" sleep (that's what DH calls it).

I leave the video monitor on ALL night and I wake up probably at least 6 times a night to make sure she's ok. I'm hoping that this gets better when she gets older.

I am obsessed with the video monitor to the point I was not getting any sleep. DH has to now keep it on his side of the bed otherwise I wake up and check her a million times.

Now I check on her a lot before I go to sleep and then he usually shuts off the video part.

Jen this is me....I wake up all night to look...I never get a solid night's sleep anymore but I'm used to it now. Sigh...my DH is always like "leave him alone!"

Now that they are a year...less-Declan wakes up sometimes if I go into his room and the floor creaks so I can't really check on him-I do if he's sick or anything. I do have a video monitor for him. Ronan I can check on and do about 2-3 times since his room is attached to mine through a pocket door in the bathroom

Re: if your baby STTN....how many times..

Under a year old, I probably checked on him 2 or 3 times. Over a year old, usually just once, before I go to bed, but DH will usually check on him once too.

He slept more soundly as an infant and I am always afraid I will wake him up.

You ARE crazy!!! (LOL... just kidding). I can't tell you how many times I was tempted to go in and move Samantha so she wasn't off camera anymore!

We ended up moving her mobile to the other side of the crib and that has helped because she will play with it before falling asleep and generally always stays on the side of the crib that it's on.

I never check. DS is the lightest sleeper ever and he can literally hear the door creak open and wake right up.

Oh I fully accept this hahahaha.

That is why I make DH take the monitor away from me. Its totally crazy! In my head since he has it on his side, its not my responsibility anymore. I am nuts LOL.
