Male Factor Morphology and IUI
Hi ladies. We are dealing with poor morphology (1%) and are doing our first IUI this week. I was just wondering how many of you got BFPs or heard of someone getting a BFP with an IUI when morphology is the issue

Re: Male Factor Morphology and IUI
Hi,
We have male factor issues and did an IUI once and it was BFN We had much better success with IVF (resulting in my DS). I wish you lots of luck though

Re: Male Factor Morphology and IUI
We did multiple IUI's with MF. DH's morphology flucuated between 0%-1%. We did not have any success with IUI, so we moved onto IVF.

We also were dealing with MF on all issues and we did one IUI before moving successfully to IVF.

Re: Male Factor Morphology and IUI
Perhaps we were just lucky but DH has 1-2% morphology as well as a low sperm count. We got pregnant on our third IUI but then again I think this is more the exception than the rule. We were ready to move onto IVF after the third try.

Re: Male Factor Morphology and IUI
I have to ask What is the 1% or 2%? the Good shaped sperm? (and this is totally personal too so I understand if I get no responses) but did your husbands have any procedure to correct or resolve any variocele issues?
we are going to see an Urologist and RE soon and just wanted to know what to expect. I am kinda freaked out about it. thanks

It's 1 or 2% normal forms. I found this online: Men with fewer than 4% normal forms usually failed to fertilize without micromanipulation.
DH went to the urologist and has varicocele. He suggested surgery but since we had already started IUIs we wanted to keep going. After we have our child DH will most likely get the surgery. It takes 6-12 months to see a difference and there is no guarentee.
Don't be freaked out Going to a urologist will only help you better understand what is going on. You are moving forward in the right direction

Re: Male Factor Morphology and IUI
I didnt realize that the surgery would take so long to see results. I guess we will see if thats the issue. I cant help freaking out, more for DH since hes never had anything wrong not even a cavity the thought of that is really killing him. Thank you sticky dust too.

Re: Male Factor Morphology and IUI
Yes, we did get our BFP after being diagnosed with MF issues, but it took 5 iui's.
As PP said, we were more the exception than the rule, and we were also ready to go onto IVF.
This time around no luck after 6 iui's and we plan on doing IVF in the next few months.

Re: Male Factor Morphology and IUI
We suffered from MF IF. DH's morphology and motility were horrible. We were one of the lucky ones and got pregnant on our first IUI.

Re: Male Factor Morphology and IUI
We had MF issues also and were advised to go straight to IVF which is what we did. We got pregnant on our first IVF/ICSI
