Officially overdue Moms to be..come in!

Was due Friday....as of my last Dr. appt I was only 1cm, pelvic station was -2 and my cervix, I was told was "softening'. I do not think I have even felt more that 1 real contraction. My baby is now officially not a Scorpio but a Sagittarean now.

So how is everyone else feeling? If there's anyone left!Chat Icon

Re: Officially overdue Moms to be..come in!

I'm still left! I was officially due on 11/12, but that day, my doctor said he though maybe my due date should have been 11/16. Either way, I am at least a week overdue if not more.

I have plenty of contractions, but at my last appt, I was only 1 cm, pelvic station +2 and my cervix was soft. I have been losing my mucus plug in pieces for 2 weeks now.

The doctor stripped my membranes on Friday and that did nothing, but leave me in a lot of pain, so I won't let them do that again.

I have another appointment tomorrow morning, hoping for some progress. Also expecting to receive an induction date.

Seriously, are we the only two left??? I swear I sometimes think he will never come!!Chat Icon I am dreading the thought of going later this week and then having an emergency c section due to a failed induction! I work one day a week and had not planned to be derailed financially because of a c-section recovery that goes into the month of December. IO just really, really thought I would have my baby by now! Chat Icon The fact that pregnancy lasts 10 months for some just seems so brutally unfair at times, when others get perfectly healthy babies nice and early. Chat Icon

Anyway, out with my rant..I'm done for today!Chat Icon Rebecca, I will pray for you to have a quick delivery asap! You have certainly had it a lot worse than me at this point! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Officially overdue Moms to be..come in!

I found this online today, and had to share!

Ten Things not to say to an overdue woman

#1 Now, when was your due date?
If someone says this to you, try not to bite their heads off. This may actually be valid. So many times, the due date is thrown off by a late ultrasound or how your baby is measuring, which are the least accurate ways to determine when your baby is due.

#2 Your belly sure is huge.
Ouch. The size and or shape of a pregnant abdomen has nothing to do with when the baby is due and may not have anything to do with the size of the baby.

#3 Are you sure it isn't twins?
Of course you're sure. Now please don't hurt them...

#4 Have you tried...
Insert a long list of comments and old wives tales on induction methods to be used at home. These, like their medical counterparts, are as great as they sound, particularly in how well they work.

#5 When will you be induced?
The general answer from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) is 42 weeks into pregnancy. There are medical reasons for induction of labor prior to this date.

#6 Don't sit there, your water might break!
The good news is that over 75% of the time your water won't break until labor is well established. In fact it only breaks before labor about 12-13% of the time. Sit wherever you like...

#7 Doesn't the placenta have an expiration date?
Nope. While the placenta is the only disposable organ that our bodies make, they aren't ticking time bombs. If your pregnancy goes to 41 weeks, you will likely have special testing to make sure that baby is doing well and so is the placenta, called a biophysical profile (BPP), complete with a non-stress test.

#8 Maybe they got your dates wrong.
Argh, see #1.

#9 When I was pregnant...
Regaling you with stories of their pregnancy may be entertaining. If it's helpful or entertaining, let them continue. If not, fake a contraction and leave.

#10 Oh, being overdue isn't that bad...
It can be nice, but when you've got someone reminding you of it or asking why you haven't had the baby yet, it's annoying. The fun guessing game of when will I have the baby does eventually get old. I personally like to remind myself that no matter what I think during pregnancy, postpartum isn't exactly a picnic!

I was not dilated at all on my actual due date. I have been one cm at the last two appts since then, so progress can happen.

Re: Officially overdue Moms to be..come in!

I felt exactly how you ladies did. I had DS 6 days late with an induction. On the up side, if you do need to schedule an induction, it is fairly likely that it will be successful since you are past your due date- you just may need a little help jumpstarting labor. But trust me, I can totally relate to how you all feel. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Phone calls, emails, instant messages are all annoying... I know people care but seriously they WILL be notified when I give Birth and need to relax... They are more concerned than me and I am the one going through it all... You would think by now people would be used to me going overdue being last time was 2 weeks late Chat Icon and all turned out fine Chat Icon

Re: Officially overdue Moms to be..come in!

Well an update from my appointment. It looks like I will be induced tomorrow. Just wanting for them to call me back with the time and directions for what to do.

Is it horrible that I am more upset about the fact that I am going to be in the hospital for Thanksgiving than I am excited about the birth? When I first found out we were having a baby in November, I was so excited about having my little one at Thanksgiving. Now, it looks like that Thanksgiving will be spent in the hospital. Just not the way I pictured things, I guess.

Aww don't be sad. Three years ago, my aunt was set to be induced on black friday. We drove to her (in Pennsylvannia) Wednesday afternoon figuring we'd cook dinner there and help with her other LOs, and that night she went into labor. She was in the hospital for TG. My uncle stayed with her the whole night, came home in the late AM, showered, napped, ate with us and then we took her a big TG dinner. While it $sucked not having her there, we all had something ver special to be thankful for that year!!

Don't get me wrong, I know that it is a blessing to have someone to be thankful for. I am just a huge fan of Thanksgiving, we host it normally, and it means a lot to me for everyone to be together. Not to mention that my grandma is 94 years old and every year I think this could be our last Thanksgiving all together. I wanted her to have at least one with DS. I don't know if she'll even be able to visit the hospital, because she doesn't get around well.

Plus Winthrop is limiting guests to direct family members because of swine flu. My best friend is coming up for Thanksgiving from Virginia with the exact plans of seeing the baby. I don't care if we have to lie and say she is my sister, she is seeing this baby.
