Coloring highlighted hair
I have a love/hate relationship with highlights. I started highlighting again a couple of months ago and even though I got lowlights mixed in last time, it is still too blond. I really want to just color my whole head a shade of brown.
Should I just buy a box of hair dye from the store or use a toner, or something else? Anyone do this themselves? I have no patience for going back and getting more lowlights. TIA!

Re: Coloring highlighted hair
I was in your position 'til last week. I had enough of looking like a Lion King (2 different colors, low & high lights..a mess)I went to a salon. I needed a filler before the dye. It came out awesome.
I would go to a professional since you have to cover up highlights.

Re: Coloring highlighted hair
go to the salon
do not try to do it yourself
if you miss a spot- it will look worse (I learned this the hard way- and it cost me alot more to get fixed then it would have to do it right the first time)

Re: Coloring highlighted hair
I did this last year. I colored over all of my highlights. I went to the salon though. I recommend that because doing it yourself you may get lighter sections in harder to reach areas
