Re: car seat opinion please!
I thought by that age they could start in a booster but I could be totally wrong too.
EDIT - I found this on the Academy of Peds website regarding booster seats.
Booster seats are for older children who have outgrown their forward-facing car safety seats. Children should stay in a booster seat until adult belts fit correctly (usually when a child reaches about 4' 9" in height and is between 8 and 12 years of age).
Booster seats are for older children who have outgrown their forward-facing car safety seats. It is best for children to ride in a harnessed seat as long as possible, at least to 4 years of age. If your child outgrows his seat before reaching 4 years of age, consider using a seat with a harness approved for higher weights and heights. A child has outgrown his forward-facing seat when any one of the following is true:
* He reaches the top weight or height allowed for his seat with a harness. (These limits are listed on the seat and also included in the instruction booklet.) * His shoulders are above the top harness slots. belt-positioning booster seat Belt-positioning booster seat * His ears have reached the top of the seat.
Booster seats are designed to raise the child up so that the lap and shoulder seat belts fit properly. High-back and backless booster seats are available. They do not come with harness straps but are used with the lap and shoulder seat belts in your vehicle, the same way an adult rides. Booster seats should be used until your child can correctly fit in lap and shoulder seat belts. Booster seats typically include a plastic clip or guide to help ensure the correct use of the vehicle lap and shoulder belts. See the instruction booklet that came with the booster seat for directions on how to use the guide or clip.

Re: car seat opinion please!
I would check the weight/height restrictions and go by that. 4 sounds about right to switch to a booster and I would hate to plunk down $$ for another seat if it's safe for the older child to be in a booster at this point.

Re: car seat opinion please!
The one thing you have to consider is the fact that car seats have a shelf life of I think about 5 years. So you would probably only get one more year out of your convertible so maybe it is worth it to buy a new seat for the baby.

Re: car seat opinion please!
Car Seats expire after 6 years so depending on the date and of course if he still fits the height - weight limit may help decide to either leave him in there, buy a new one for the Baby, Booster, etc...
Our 3 year old is in a Marathon and no way meets the height - weight and we have 3 more years before it expires so the new baby got their own Britax.

Re: car seat opinion please!
I moved my little one into my DD's Britax Boulevard and got her a Graco Nautilus 3in1--it's the last carseat she'll need and it's rated excellent!
