i don't see the big deal with her heels. she's a little girl playing dress up. and to the person who said they're not plastic heals for dress up, if you have the amount of money they have, you wouldn't buy her those cheap things either.

My daughter is about a year younger than Suri (and a touch cuter), and she decides what shoes she is going to wear on a particular day. And I double dog dare anyone to try and change her mind!
I bought her a pair of wedge sandals over the summer to wear that were sort of heels and she loved them. She walks well in them and they looked adorable!
She loves to play dress up, pretend she's a princess, try on my heels...in fact, she walks better in heels than I do!
So I see nothing wrong with her wearing those adorable shoes (that I now want for my daughter).

She also chooses what goes in her hair most of the time. And sometimes, that means it looks a mess!

It has nothing to do with not saying "no" to your child....it's all about picking your battles.

believe me my daughter was little once too and i understand what you are saying, talk to me about picking battles when she 12 going on 20. i personally think she looks cute but...

scientologists do not say no to there kids, they just don't so in addition to suri being a typical toddler she will by all estimations test a little more due to her parents beliefs.

We get to see a snippet of lives with a picture..who knows where they were going. Perhaps Suri is in a phase where she wants to wear a certain shoe all the time. My 2 year old takes off shoes I put on her and puts on her "favorite" pair all the time. So who knows why adorable Suri has on heels in both pics..

Here's mine: She might have been walking in her day clothes & heels from her car to a trailer where they dressed into her costume so she could go to a Halloween Party on a set somewhere in LA.

While I personally think the heels are a bit high for her age...to assume she's wearing the "all the time" is a bit much, no?

The first pic she has a pretty dress on, and they might have been going to a dinner party...or maybe they just didn't want to fight that battle of getting her to wear different shoes...toddlers can be quite convincing!

The second pic, she appears to just be playing dress up...

The two pics together don't seem to warrant an "all the time" assumption - in fact most other pics I've seen of Suri, she's in flats!

Also not a fan of little girls wearing high heels. I'm not a parent yet, so I'm sure I have MUCH to learn about the willfulness of young children, but IMO they shouldn't even be an option in her wardrobe. The second pic, she's obviously all dressed up like a princess, so that one's not so bad, but the first photo looks like an ordinary outfit to me... visually, I just don't care for it, and practically speaking, I think they could be dangerous.

I understand what you're saying....but the way it was said made me feel that you were implying she is allowed to wear heels/go out with messy hair because the parents don't say "no" to her....and that it's bad parenting.
My daughter is known to do both of those things, so it hit a nerve.

i dont have a child yet but will in may and believe me, if its a girl, she will not be walking around in 1.5-2inch heels at 3(ish?) and i remember being a child and my mother telling me (when I would scream as she brushed my hair) if i dont brush it, we cut it ALL off. You BET it was combed and well kept and not in my face and i was NOT an easy child to deal with. As a parent, you make the rules and the child should learn that from an early age. It is for their well being and they will thank you later in life as I thank my mom 25 years later. Of course, JMHO!

So what you're saying is that I'm a bad parent because I don't do exactly what your mother did while raising you?
Because I have a child, and believe me, there's a lot that I've done that I swore I would never do.
And guess what? I must be a pretty darn good parent because my daughter is sweet and generous and a pleasure to be around. So apparently, putting a smile on her face by letting her wear mini heels on occasion, and not forcing her to brush her hair just because I'm worried about appearances hasn't ruined her yet.
There are all different ways to parent. There's no reason to put someone down because their methods are different from your own.

The girl is wearing a pair of mini-heels. So what?! I know there's a lot of people on here that are parents, and many that are not. Everyone has different parenting styles, and sometimes you have to pick and choose your battles. I can tell you from experience that raising a toddler is in a whole other class by itself!

My point is unless the child's safety is in jeopardy, it's really not that big of a deal (the heels that is). And no, I do not think walking down the street in heels and holding your mother's hand is a safety concern. Running in a gym class in heels or on the playground? Definitely. And let me tell ya, many kids wear crocs or flip-flops to the playground and they are not much safer!

As far as the messy hair, no matter how much you try to keep your toddler neat and clean, by the end of the day they're probably going to have messy hair. It's just one of those things. My DS goes to daycare and comes home with his hair all over the place and food on his clothes. Sometimes I have to take him out places after school (like food shopping) and don't have time to run home for him to change. So he goes out with messy hair and a dirty shirt. Not my ideal by any means, but it happens.
