Getting the run-around!!!
Ever feel like people are constantly lying/making up excuses that you know arent valid re: home purchases?
I have a bone to pick with just about everyone I'm dealing with throughout this home buying process... The incompetance is truely amazing and I think I need a nice liquored up drink to deal with today's crapola...
Why is it that we pay lots and lots of $$ for service and WE'RE the ones who have to get on their *** to do their job... holy mother of god... does everyone go through this?!?!?
Thank god today is my friday
VENT OVER...

Re: Getting the run-around!!!
Having bought property in another State I was shocked to hear about those closing nightmares I am hearing here in NY. Attorneys missing papers, not calling back, title issues, closing delayed by several months sometimes. This is a HUGE mess. Closing costs are VERY expensive. I don't know why people involved think the level (or lack of!) of professionalism does not need to be there.

Re: Getting the run-around!!!
our process took forever but we had a good agent, broker and attorney that all knew each other and knew we had the potential to help them grow their business if they did a good job.....
sorry this is soooo frustrating for you and good luck!!!!

Re: Getting the run-around!!!
I completely know what you mean. We closed on 10/5, and the process was HORRIBLE. Our attorney was completely incompetent and we ended up having to do a lot of work ourselves, not to mention the numerous phone calls made to get answers with no returned phone calls. The seller was a complete liar, thief, and just all around jerk.
I hope everything goes fast and smooth for going forward!!

Re: Getting the run-around!!!
We are fully in contract as of this week (different house then the one I talked about a few weeks ago).
I feel like nobody is really telling me to do anything. I'm working with the mortgage broker with all the paperwork.
Who is supposed to tell me to schedule the termite inspection or shop for homeowners insurance? I feel like someone should be telling me to do something! Is that how you feel?

I would do your termite inspection ASAP. We did ours with the regular inspection. You want to know if there is any damage.

Re: Getting the run-around!!!
In the end, the frustration will be worth it
I think it must really depend on who you are dealing with.
We are closing on Wednesday and have been in contract since September 30th. We would have been able to close tomorrow, but trying to work out so many schedules made it impossible.
Our bank/lawyer both really pushed the process along nicely and our REA made sure to remind us about the inspections and binder for the insurance, etc.

I believe we've officially been in contract since 9/28... just over a month now which isnt bad i suppose... i give it another 2 weeks hopefully.... we'd like to aim for the closing the week before thanksgiving...
We dont hear as much info as we'd like to hear from everyone... I feel like bc we're first timers, they should be holding our hand- not vice versa ya know? Also, if we werent trying to get this 8k, i think we'd be a little more lax in the process...
Just a frustrating day...

Re: Getting the run-around!!!
dont worry it will all work out....
we had a few hiccups b/c of the types of homes we went into contract with - short sales are nutty so we had issues b/c of that...otherwise the actual contract to closing went pretty quick for us - 1 month to the day - and inspection and everything else was enjoyable...we had some hiccups with the appraisal being low which was also a bit of an issue but everyone we worked with was pretty good and got things done quick...
looking back, maybe we were a little nutty with bothering everyone so much - but as a first time buyer i think you're allowed to be like you said, you want someone to hold your hand - and you want to know what's going on every step of the way....
iin NY the process seems to take a little longer and in FL most people don't use real estate attorneys so it does seem like there is a lot less going back and forth and a lot less waiting when buying a home out of NY....everyone we know averaged about 3 months from contract to close in NY...
dont worry, it seems frustrating now but you'll get there and somehow everything works out...everything we do in life always seems so crazy and when it's all over i always seem to find myself saying "it wasn't that bad" - even though i do remember making some posts when i was going through the process that were pretty dramatic
sorry for the long post - the point is to hang in there!!
