Mamas of babies on Zantac
what is your child's age/dosage??
My 6 w/o is on 1mL twice daily (around 8am/pm) but mid day her symptoms flare up (gagging, coughing, wet burps, etc.) im wondering if her dose is too low?

it goes by weight so if she has gained, she may need more call ur doc.

Zantac is crap......
My kid has HORRIBLE acid reflux. THe specialist at Yale said he has NO IDEA why peds KEEP prescribing Zantac for reflux. All it is is an acid neutralizer so it doesn't stop the over production of acid which is one of teh causes of reflux.
You shoudl try and see a GI specialist, regular peds shouldn't even try and treat reflux, they don't have enough knowledge on teh subject.
ALso she needs to be tested for milk protein allergy which is the #1 cause of reflux in infants.
If you do a search with my name and reflux you'll find TONS of info I've posted on the past regarding my daughter

What she said. Seriously though, zantac doesn't cure it....will some kids appear better after using it? Sure. But it's not doing anything to make the reflux go away, it just makes them feel better. You want the reflux to stop so they don't have the pain. DS also had terrible reflux and was referred to a ped. GI who prescribed Prevacid and after a few months, his reflux is now gone.  I know you're in the city like me, I can give you the name of Shane's GI, she's at Columbia and wonderful. Hang in there!

DS was on it for 2 days & we took him off of it bc it made him wired. We would give him .5ml twice a day & within 1/2 an hour, he was very jittery. When I spoke with our peditrican, he said unfortunately this was a side effect. He recommended we give DS 1/4 tsp of mylanta 3 times a day in his bottle & see what happens. Well within 24 hours we saw such a huge difference. DS has been on this combo for 4 weeks now & is doing great! It was the best decision we ever made.

KJ WAS ON 1 ML 2X A DAY but he seemed to still have some issues so the ped just bumped it up to 1.5 ml 2x a day

thanks guys.
im gonna talk to the Ped tomorrow about either switching the zantac/adding mylanta/or upping it
she has gained 2lbs since she was put on it if that matters. although from what youre telling me maybe the zantac just isnt the right fit for her
