Let's talk deep soaking tubs!!!
I HATE those 18 inches tall "bath"tub. OK... I am kidding it's not 18inches but it feels like it.
I think I want a deeper tub. Not one with jets and lights, etc. Just a regular tub that you can take an actual bath and the water is above your belly button.
Are they much more $$$? Are they worth it?
Are they special order? If so, how long to get them, etc.?
TIA

Re: Let's talk deep soaking tubs!!!
We recently installed a Kohler Sunward soaking tub. When we were looking, anything that wasn't stock (which was just about everything, and any color other than white, including off-white Biscuit) took about 6 - 8 weeks to special order. I'm pretty happy with it, but if I did it again I might get the 5 foot instead of the 6 foot. DH likes the longer tub, but I tend to slip down a bit since I can't brace my feet against the end. It does take awhile to fill. I looked at the Kohler Purist model (on the bottom) and it looked like a fabulous tub, but it took a HUGE amount of water to fill it, needed reinforced flooring to hold the weight, and suggested a second hot water heater!

We got a Kohler Devonshire tub...it's a deeper tub. No jets or anything but I really like it. We did need to order it but it came in fairly quickly. I don't think it was a big difference in $$.

Re: Let's talk deep soaking tubs!!!
We just ordered ours its the American Standard Cambridge. Its a little bigger then the usual tub (usual is 14 inches deep ours is 17 inches) It is not a drop in and has no jets. We had the jets in our last house and NEVER used them so thought they would be a waste but I wanted a little deeper soaking area because DS likes to stand for his baths so I thought it would be nicer. I also liked the look to us it just looked nicer than the "builders standard" which is what we have now.
It was 2x the price of the usual tub but still only about $500+ (home depot said I could get it in about 10 days...but we ordered elsewhere 4 week delivery but less $$)

My parents have this tub in one of their bathrooms and it's nice but if you are going to bathe DS in this tub it isn't easy to do especially if you are putting sliding doors.
