Is anyone elses DC so not consistent when it comes to naps and sleep???

DS is 6 months and NOTHING is consistent. For 2 nights he slept 8-9 hours straight...last night he was up every 4 hours. Some nights he will only get up once but only sleep for 6 hour clips.

His naps are horrible too. Some days he will sleep like an infant should (1-2 hour naps) and other days he just catnaps...

Im just not sure what I am doing wrong.

Are you consistent when it comes to bedtime routine? Are you putting him down at the same time every night? Are you following the same order, i.e. bath bottle, etc every night? I find that this is the key.

It must be fustrating, good luck.

My kid was never consistent with his sleep until he was one, we did CIO and he was off formula.

It sucks, but sometimes kids don't follow the rulesChat Icon

My DD was always good about STTN (she started that at 8 weeks) BUT she was NEVER a good napper until she got older. It didn't matter what we did with her she never wanted to nap during the day unless we held her and even then she didn't always sleep. Around 8'ish months she started taking a 2hr. nap in the morning exactly 2 hrs. after she woke up and at least another hour in the afternoon. Honestly, once we let her sleep on her tummy everything changed. She napped great AND she was able to put herself to sleep instead of DH and I always having to rock her to sleep. I don't think they are any tricks per se, I think every baby is different and some sleep habits just get better with time. Good luck! Chat Icon

ITA! Jacen was a horrendous sleeper for such a long time. Nothing we did mattered. Nothing we did made a difference. We could do things the exact same way the next day/night and all h*ll could break lose, versus the night before where he STTN. Chat Icon

His naps got better around 7-8 months but could still be a cr*pshoot sometimes. His nighttime sleeping didn't get better until around 12 months and still is far from perfect.

I honestly feel like he has constantly and consistently kept us on our toes. As MCL916 always tells me, jacen breaks all the rules!!! Some kids just go against the grain, unfortunately... no matter what you do. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
