Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?

when DS was BFing still, he would get him ready for bed with a new diaper and PJs and his swaddle, and bring him to me. then i would BF, he would fall asleep and i'd put him down.

after DS was on bottles, DH almost always gave him his nighttime bottle and put him down (i was there in the room but DH was bonding with him since he was at work the whole day Chat Icon)

once DS got older, DH and i share. we both take turns feeding him and playing with him before bed (DH is usaully home by 6).

plus we started a mini-routine of going in to his room together, putting him in his PJs, and a new diaper, kissing him goodnight, zipping him into his sleepsack and giving him his lovey.

DH gets home around 6:15. We are usually downstairs playing when he comes in. He will play with them for a few minutes, and then we bring them upstairs. If it is a bath night, he will give them a bath. If not, he will change them both into their pjs. Then we feed them their bottles together. He will read them a story and then we will put them down to sleep.

DH does more of the evening routine than I do. It's just the way things have worked out.

When he's home it is his job to bathe all of them. He gets them out, dries them, and we both help the boys get dressed. He also does all of DDs homework with her.

At bed time he helps a lot. He tucks the girls in, reads them a story, and makes sure no funny business goes on Chat Icon while I get the boys to sleep.

Sabrina is 2.5 but since very early on we have shared the routine. DH gives her a bath, I put the pjs on and read her stories. Before I nursed her to sleep, now I sing for a minute or two and she goes to sleep on her own. Sometimes, if DH doesn't get home until late, he comes in and reads a few books with us.

DH gets home around 5:30 during the week. He usually gets changed and then will play with her or feed her if she wants a bottle. He tries to be the one to put her down, but he never does it right and she always ends up crying in 15 minutes. I always have to go back in and re-do it.Chat Icon

Oh well. He gets an A for effort. Sometimes.Chat Icon

DH's hours are odd right now, but once his schedule gets back on some normal course, yes. For now, we kind of go back and forth on things. I feed her, he will change her, I bath her, he puts her jammies on and gets her in bed... etc. Once his schedule calms down, I would like to think it will be more set everynight... but who knows lol

My husband runs the evening routine, and its always been this way. He has always picked Noah up from childcare, taken him home, he gives him dinner, they (we) relax together, he starts the bath while I start dinner, I read one story and he reads two stories.

He is awesome!

Re: how do you all include your DH in your evening routine?

When DH is home he helps to give DS a bath. I usually do the nighttime bottle and put him to bed. But when DH is home, he is home with DS all day so I like to give DS the afternoon and nighttime bottles on those days, since I have been at work all day. On the other days, when DH is working, he isn't home in time to put DS to bed.

DH gets home late but he insists on being part of their nightly routine and I like the help so no complaints here. We eat dinner a few minutes after he gets home. Then he watches and changes the baby for bed while I give DD a shower (he used to give DD#1 a bath but she has been asking for me to give it to her and now she also wants a shower) then on days when the baby gets a bath he takes DD#1 and gets her into her pjs while I bathe the baby - otherwise I take the baby and he dresses DD#1. Then he brings in both girls and we read a few stories together as a family and he takes DD#1 to her crib and reads her another story and says goodnight. This way he gets to spend time with both girls at night.

he usually gets home around 7 and DS is currently going to bed between 9 and 10. when he gets home he usually gives Tristan a bath while I do dinner or we switch. Or on nights where T doesn't have a bath, DH makes dinner while I feed him. Then we have dinner together and afterward DH is usually the one to settle DS for bed.
