Heat

Anyone turn their heat on yet? It's about 58 degrees in my house and I am soooo tempted. I keep telling myself wait till November, but if I do I may need to walk around in my winter coat.

If it was 58 degrees in my house the heat would be on! So far it hasn't gotten colder than 67 in my house.

Re: Heat

I've had it on for just a few minutes to get the chill out of the house......then we shut it off and put it on manual.

If its too cold it goes on.......if its too hot, the A/C kicks in.

Not yet, I heard we are supposed to have bad winter so I am holding out as long as possible.

Who knows if it's true, but it has not been that cold in my house yet.

Re: Heat

We did a couple of time when it was 58-60 degrees in the house.

Bumped it up to reach 70 and then turned if off and it stayed 70 for a while

Re: Heat

The heat kicked on this morning.
Our thermastat can't be set lower than 60 degrees, so it must have been colder than that.

Re: Heat

I don't base my heating or cooling on the calender. If it's too cold, I heat the house. If it's too hot, I cool the house. So far, it hasn't been cold enough to turn the heat on, though. The house is now very well insulated, so that helps tremendously.

Re: Heat

We set the heat for 60 degrees.

We're not home during the day so I have no idea if it kicks on or not. Last night we slept around 64 degrees. I think we had to turn on the heat for that.

Re: Heat

we don't pay for heat at our apartment so if i am chilly i turn it on. luckily when we got back from house-sitting last night the building turned the heat on.

Re: Heat

our home hasnt yet dropped below 66 so we are waiting as long as possible. Once we are in the low 60's, we will set it to 67-68 (where we keep it all winter)

Re: Heat

not yet. I'm really going to try to wait another few weeks, until Nov if I can. I paid a ton for heat last year and am going to try to be more careful using it this year. Hopefully it won't be a really cold winter! I have to get my heating system checked before I turn it on too.

Re: Heat

Not yet. I am pretty sure later in the week we may have to as it is only suppose to get into the high 40s during the day (I'm not on LI), so at night it will be very cold. Today our apartment was about 60 and it was chilly, but bearable.

Re: Heat

I haven't turned it on yet, but I've been tempted since I've been home and cold all day today. We just got new energy efficient windows, but it is still cold in here! According to the thermostat, it's 67 degrees, the warmest it has been all day, but I'm still freezing!

Re: Heat

I turned it on this morning as I was freezing. I don't like to be cold and I am on budget so there is no surprises for one year with my oil bill.

I put it on upstairs for a little while during DD's nap. It was only 61 when I laid her down, other than that no. I actually slept with my bedroom window open the last 2 nights Chat Icon

I'm WAY to cheap to turn on the heat. I follow my mom's philosophy which was to put on a sweater if you're cold
